and when switching to 4hi, just make sure the rear tires aren;t slipping.
my rule, let off the throttle before switching, then get back on it a second after it switches.

As fast as conditions & your skills allow. Remember, your in 4WD for a reason & its not because your on smooth dry pavement.

Nope. Never run 4x4 on hard surfaces. Only on loose surfaces, such as sand, gravel, snow, etc. or, if needed on hard pack surfaces keep it straight.

For example, pulling a boat outta the water on a slippery boat launch 4x4 will be a nice thing to have. Just don't turn the wheel.

So its not safe to drive on dry pavement in 4 Hi?
Just curious... I know there is really no reason to, just learning is all :)

Excessive wear on everything .
