i never encountered this stock, but, once I upgraded the factory amp and DSR1 to handle the signal processing, I get this about 10% of the time. as others have reported, it goes away at the next start up, but affects the regular DO DO DO chime when you open the door, and the backup warnings, so be careful backing up if you hear this on start up. Your stereo - even the wimpy factory stereo could overwhelm the chimes.

I think this is, at least in my case, the amp or DSR not being “ready” on startup. if there’s a delay the truck senses this and redirects the chimes.

This has happened to me a couple times. It seems to occur most commonly when using the audio system by pushing the power button with the ignition turned off. On the next key cycle, the audio comes through the Instrument cluster speaker instead of the audio system.

The IPC is the chime arbitrator, so it decides whether the chime will go through the audio system or the internal speaker. It is only supposed to play through the cluster if there is a loss of communication with the ACM or the ACM has DTCs stored, so it appears that this issue is a software glitch.

I figured I had caused it when messing with the IPC in Forscan to display the coolant and trans temp #s above the gauges.

I'll have to see if I have any DTCs stored after going back to stock.

Mine did the same about 3 weeks ago. Sounded totally different for about a day. Even the backup warning tone changed.

Then it went back to the way it was, hasn't done it again since.

Thanks guys. In my case, must be because I'm firing up the truck too quickly after jumping in, since the other scenarios don't apply to me. Will give it a few seconds deliberately and see if it happens again.

There’s a FORSCAN option to disable the DO DO DO at start up. I wonder if that would be better, and maybe not as susceptible to this?

Or at least give us some more entertaining choices. Like Doo *** doo *** doo ***.

my 18 used to do that randomly with that 80s atari sound! Now after upgrading sound system it happens all the time, on first startup and all there after, no changes!
