Ford Bronco Raptor vs. RAPTOR

I think so as well. I mean, there are not a lot of tough decisions to make for this new trim. The design is already there, you just have to mod them slightly to make sense on a Bronco.

If the end up using the exact same parts where they can, say the hood /side vents, front bumper, etc, it could mean that some aftermarket parts work on Bronco and F150 raps....meaning more market and cheaper prices? Probably not.

Now will this Bronco Raptor be rugged? AS rugged as the FJ and you can basically dump water inside of it with no issues?

THAT would be excellent. A true off-roading vehicle, everything rubberized.

They have announced they will have a separate "assault" for the Bronco, held in 4 places around the country. One of the places is in Moab. They have already been here to set things up.

That's Bronco Rodeo. So are you gonna have 3/4 of the class running Outer Banks' and the other 1/4 running "Fraptors"? I think most here are missing the massive dump Ford just took on Raptors that have been on the road for 10 years now. Nothing is worse than having to clarify what type of vehicle you have because they throw the name on a completely different ride. In a lot of ways, it does a disservice to the Bronco as well.

I posted on FB that most or anyone who give a damn about the Raptors should be flooding Ford with emails and calls demanding they change the name. Warthog just sounds cooler anyways, and it would be specific to the Bronco.

So your saying that when you tell people you own a Raptor at a dinner party, people won't be as impressed now? Not sure I follow why you're so offended.

I personally don't care. Actually, I see it more as a positive than anything else. Expanding the Raptor brand likely means that they are going to invest more into it whether it be Bronco, Ranger, or F150. Although I agree that calling a Warthog, even if it does borrow some of the Raptors unique exterior features and such, would be cooler. It's not like the Raptor and Warthog brands can't share tech either way.

You don't own a Raptor. You own an F-150 in Raptor trim. Others will own a Bronco in Raptor trim. If you have the jet, that's an F22 Raptor.

Raptor is a trim level, not a vehicle type.

Technically true, but that's not public perception. Marketing guys who ignore public perception are stepping on their dorks. The Ford marketing team has been doing that a lot lately IMO. They have a product that's cool on it's own with a following. They have a cool name for it. Then they muddy the waters by giving it the same name as a different product with a different following. From a marketing standpoint you can't fail harder than that. From a branding standpoint? Hard fail. You want the perception that you have lots of cool products, not just one. This is a screwup on so many levels that I wonder if the Chinese have a couple of moles in the marketing department at Ford.

Problem is, the Raptor ISN'T a trim level. Yes, its may be according to Ford, but XL, XLT, Lariat etc are trims. When you have a vehicle with different hood, fenders and frame...thats a different vehicle.

It would have made a lot more sense if the other Bronco trims where XL, XLT, Lariat, etc. Since they didn't use the other F150 trims, it's a little odd that they used the Raptor trim. I see why...it's just odd. Then again, they did odd things with the F150 Lighting.

For that matter, they have a new 'timberline' trim level....which appears to be pretty much like Tremor? And the Mach E should not be a mustang, just because they borrowed some mustang styling. Ford has really blurred the lines between models and trims to where there is little logic behind, other than using words they think will bring in more buyers, but not really any logic.
Problem is, the Raptor ISN'T a trim level. Yes, its may be according to Ford, but XL, XLT, Lariat etc are trims. When you have a vehicle with different hood, fenders and frame...thats a different vehicle.

They did really stretch the definition here. And so did Ram with the TRX.

Again though, a Bronco Raptor doesn't really bother me personally.

I agree completely. I guess it is kind of like "trail rated" Jeeps. Some of them that carry that badge are really not, at least not in my mind, but they do have features that other vehicles don't that make them "more" capable on the trail than a stock car.
