So, I've been on the fence about this for quite some time and haven't been able to make up my mind. I am fortunate enough to have a Tire Gate at my disposal (at no charge) thanks to the kind folks at Theodore Robins Ford in Costa Mesa, CA (shameless plug..i know :))

The cons to the gate is that I loose my back-up camera which is a huge help in navigating parking spots. Also, the bed extender for hauling is something I would miss out on as well.

The pros are pretty simple... I think they look sick!

I'm eager to hear everyones feedback on this.

I agree with ya they look great but, I cant lose the bed for things... I ma planning on making one that will double as a tiregate and a flip down bed extender... Been working on the design for a while... Need to piece things together and see what it will take to make it...

They are very cool, but also don't see the reason for one unless i'm bouncing out in the desert.

I would never give up the backup camera...absolutely love this feature. I'm not sure how the backup camera interfaces, you could do a license plate mount item:

LOCKPICK CAMERAS

Not sure if it's possible to interface an RCA composite video camera into the Ford harness (have no idea what it looks like).

Personally wouldn't do it though, they look really cool but not necessary (unless perhaps you're planning on larger tires with a matching spare?)

Yay.

It would look so nice with your new rear bumper.

If you go TireGate, I'm gonna be soooooo jealous.
I really want one with the backup cam wired into it, and I've talked to some of our site vendors about it, they say its very do-able, but I'm on the fence because like some of the other guys I often need my tailgate and bedspace in work scenarios.

I haven't seen one up close - but I would figure the tire gate would be a bolt on item?
If so, I would get it and use on the occasional weekend tour - but run with the tailgate (love my cam too) on at other times.

yeah, from what I've read with 2 sets of hands the tire gate is not a very laborious install.
Seems pretty easy.
