Why is this tape covering chassis holes?

Hey Gang,

Was chasing a wet floorboard after a huge rain storm and was under the truck messing around. Saw “duct tape” covering manufactured chassis holes on both sides up and down my 2010 SCAB. Why would the PO install this?

Pretty sure there is another thread on here where the OP had the same issue. He was looking for plugs for the holes.

As The Car Stereo Company stated, comes that way from the factory to keep crap from getting in the there. If your tape looks like it's old and coming off best to replace it with the heavy-duty black Gorilla tape. Hopefully someday someone will post a good replacement plug cap for these holes.
