Awesome and about damn time! A day late for me unfortunately... BUT very interested to see the power results over the winter/spring. Hopefully worth the hassle.

Curious if this the final package/product format, or do they plan be able to do the normal flash process without sending ecu back and forth?

Goose will need confirm, but the unlock is a one-time deal. Afterwards the normal process applies.

There are a few other OEMs that “lock” the ECU against tampering as well. All will likely adopt similar techniques to prevent remote hacking of wifi-connected vehicle computers like taking over control of the vehicle while it’s in operation. It’s already been proven possible on Teslas.

ECU unlock is needed at the moment, which does require one to send the ECU to COBB for unlock.

Yeah it's a one time deal. The ford doesn't appear to work like Tesla in OTA locks (and you can turn off/dismiss updates if you want)

@GooseTuned what’s the news on any tcm tuning? I really like the stock maps for different modes, do you think TCM tuning will be as popular for Gen 3 as others? Any benefits other than “different feel”?

It’ll provide different feels for sure. It can be improved on.

The gen 2 was horrible, and this is much better but there are things that feel better for sure.

So since we are sending the ECU in to COBB for unlock, do we know how this affects the ability for the dealer to reflash if needed? Is this going to need to go to COBB again if the dealer flashes the ECU?

Probably not but will wait on GooseTuned to chime in. Usually once unlocked the ECU remains unlocked. It shouldn’t affect OTA updates or bench-top (in shop) flashes.
