So I have a 2020 Raptor. IT was my dream truck. BUt the reality is Its been off road maybe 2x its pretty huge and can be annoying in that sense. Its still the most badass truck out there.

I bought in April 2020 and got a pretty smokin deal. I thought about a regular truck for regular truck use but A Ram or GMC is still mid $60's new. Not even sure I want a truck at this point.

I finally saw a Bronco up close and it was pretty sweet!

Family situation.....Married, 2 boys (5&2) and a dog. Live in the country a bit with windy roads occasional weekend trips. Truck is good for that but wife also hates driving the truck and not having much internal covered space.

Curious thoughts?

Really comes down tonyour family needs that we can not answer for you.

I have my Raptor, wife has her Range Rover. Depending on what we are doing will determine which vehicle we take for the day. I will never not own a truck. If you have a house, you need a truck. But that's my small brain thinking. I'm sure that a Prius can haul sheetrock just fine.

I've seen both up close. Only driven the Gen 2/3

The only difference in terms of the interior that I saw was the rear seats seemed a bit more squished. The rear opening is neat but since there is no bed, its massively restricted to carrying cargo INSIDE. Yes you can add racks and backpacks for the attacks on trails and this and that (yes it rhymed). So make the great decision and keep the Gen 2. And the Bronco interior seems nicer, Gen 3 styling.

Your boys are young, and don't take up too much space, so the Bronco back seats should be ok. However, if you take the dog, it's probably going to get a bit tight back there. Your also going to be limited in how much you can take with you on those weekend trips. If you need more covered space, get a bed cover.

As already said, having a truck is pretty valuable, but you can rent a truck or take delivery...just not as convenient.

Do you have a bronco lined up that you can buy? Last I heard, they are still working through the reservation list.

No nothing lined up just starting to brain storm some ideas. Wife has a 17' Ford Explorer which she likes but just as bad on fuel as my truck. We are brainstorming ideas. Id get her a more fuel efficient car for hauling hte kids and a Tahoe maybe but used still pretty pricey for a used car and new is like $80k if you can find one. So IDK.

Simple - have both. ;)

I would say the Raptor is an an excellent family vehicle. In terms of lockable space, any suv is accessible like a SCREW.

I would say the longer your wife drives the truck she won’t go back to a car.

I’m lucky since the wife ordered a Bronco so we’re waiting for that to be delivered.

Sounds like you need a cheap commuter car for errands and keep the Raptor for family weekend/trips, etc. Not sure how much space you need. I've had my scab since my 2 boys were early teens and always had a dog. Does the wife pack 6 suitcases to go away for the weekend? ALways have a had a bak flip cover over the box as well. How fuel efficient are the new Bronco's really?

LOL the amount of shit we take regardless of where we go is amazing. Feel like I need a van in reality.

I think a tad better than the truck for MPG i believe. Wife needs something more efficient but doesnt matter too much to me.

We have 2 small ish boys also, 9 and 10. Used to have a 2018 and 2016 Explorers. Great family cars for daily use.

If you have a Explorer and Raptor already, I would just keep running that set up. We ran it for years and would still be if the wife didn't want the Range Rover.

I lowered the 2018 Explorer because it was never going off road. Just have to watch the tailgate height with your head.
