You're still talking just mechanical, I'm referring to the tech, info screen, higher luxury amenities and safety features. These are things that I don't need either, which is why I will die with my Gen 1, I don't even know why you and I are debating this, ha ha , we are on the same team, maybe you're just drunk on New Years Eve, still 3 hours to go out west here, lol.

Something that has not been addressed is the IWEs, the gen 2 IWE vac system was redesigned a little to accommodate the auto transfer case and does some different things at start up and the gen 2s have more problems with the system loosing vac. That said I don't see why auto TC would not work on a gen 1.

@CoronaRaptor as far as the electronics being more advanced on a gen 2, you make me laugh. The gen 1 is far more customizable than the gen 2 ever thought about. Ford made canned settings so the gen 2 would be easier to setup for conditions. I still want to see a gen 2 lock the e-locker in 2 wheel drive and have it stay engaged past 25 MPH. I rest my case.
When engaged in 4A, the IWE will release vacuum and engage the front axles. This way, when traction is needed, the transfer case immediately engages the front axle and moves power forward.

I already had the IWE delete which was a big motivator for this mod. Even after switching to 2H, I often still got 4x4 binding immediately after since the hubs don’t disengage.

im still waiting to hear back on this. there is 6 inches of snow on top of our vehicles. i took the girlfriends truck to get some food and there was a spot where i engaged 4wd. the 4 auto would be perfect right now
I just took my truck to Breckenridge during the snow storm. 4 Auto the whole way. It was magic.

So help me out. Other than the “successful” initial FX4 swap at the beginning of this thread, is there anyone who’s done this on a Gen 1 Raptor? And this is for a TOD TC coming from 2012-2014 F150 (not model specific)?
I am asking so that I can be more specific /detailed in my search for a used one. Thanks
the only piece of the puzzle that remains is whether or not the off road mode and hill descent will continue to function.

I suspect yes but this would be a simple thing to test with just the module alone. If someone were to swap the 4x4 control module, while leaving the system in 2H, you could reliably test both off road mode and hill descent. If both function as expected, then the 4A certainly will.

You will probably not get any errors on the dash until you try to change the drive mode from 2H to 4A. From what I observed in my testing of the buttons and modules, 2H is the “default” mode and everything acts like a delta to that setting.

Heck yeah great news. Havent used the hill or off road modes yet so idk if id moss them lol

Hows the Iwe delete. Ive read good and bad about it, so idk if its a good idea or not.
I replaced my IWEs 3 or 4 times, hardlines, soft lines, and check valves. For whatever reason, my truck was plagued with failing IWEs. After the last replacement, I gave up on them and just left them locked. Haven’t noticed any major differences in driveability. Though, the rubber boots seem to get some extra wear on them now.

Hard to tell from the pics but it is about an inch longer from stern to stem.
