$202/month with pretty good coverage and that's including my renters insurance. Sure went up a lot when I moved from Idaho to Houston area.

Looking through this thread, I see one topic that isn’t being covered. Does your insurance policy have an off road exemption? There are A LOT of policies out there that will not cover damage if you are driving off road. Go overlanding or crawling and roll your vehicle, that’s on you. Check your policies and make sure there is no such exemption.

I’m using https://www.thephoenixinsurance.com/ as a broker. They are in Texas but licensed in several other states. I checked them out after watching a LiteBrite vid on the subject. They hooked me up with SafeCo which is a national insurer with a great AMBest rating. Most importantly, there is no offroad exemption in my policy. I’m in no way affiliated with this guys beyond being a customer and the service with them has been great.

So cover your butts folks.

I just checked my GEICO policy and there are no exclusions for off-road use. However, it does state that I can’t race it. Darn.

Metromile is a great option for those like me that have multiple cars and don’t drive any of them much. Raptor cost me $14/mo plus 2.4 cents per mile. It’s a great plan for those who don’t drive too much.

Full coverage and $500 deductibles
