Whirling sound during cranking

I can hear the teeth engage flywheel and then release after engine starts .noise is the armature winding down. Dealer can do an amp check and see if it's specification. Bad bushing can eventually cause teeth grind or a no start. Did you drive through deep water recently? Or been raining alot. This is just a guess.

All of those that voted starter are correct. Dealership says it shouldn’t be a sign of impending failure, rather just a undesirable sound. New starter has been ordered, thanks for everyone’s input
