On 2019+ and 17/18 models that have had the TCCM software updated, the IWEs (hubs) will be engaged on a cold start regardless of 4WD mode and will remain engaged for the first few miles of driving. This circulates and warms up the front diff fluid and allows time for the system to build vacuum, which is used to hold the IWEs in the disengaged position.

When you say regardless of 4wd mode, do you mean regardless of mode, period? Meaning in 2H they will also engage for the first few miles?

Correct. Even in 2H, the IWEs will remain engaged for the first few miles on a cold start.

I have tried 4A a few times but the steering and handling feels a little wonky. A noticeable resistance especially at slow speeds.
