No criticism here... just throwing out information.

Some good kits are from DDM Tuning: DDM Tuning : HID Kits

I, personally, do not have experience with them but I know many many people on Mercedes forums and BMW forums that have used these kits and highly recommend them.

I checked the site & no kits specifically for Fords, no digital kits & none for 1/3 the price.
Just throwing that out there &
thanks for proving my point.

Not understanding here.

The slim kit is digital, costs $60-100 depending on parts, and there's no need for a Ford specific kit.

Anyways, I had a question about your setup. The way you mounted your ballasts, did you have to drill a hole there or is there already one there?

Not trying to be negative, just have done a lot of research in the past 2 years on HID. I too thought Philips was the best you can get but the truth is its just the same as some other digital HID kits. Hence you pay for the name.

Whats important is - fully digital, hot strike protection, low start up current to name a few. also a "ford specific kit" for the f150 just means its a H13 bi xenon bulb type.

If you compare the specs this system is nearly identical, cost half as much and has a lifetime warranty. 55W H13 9008 DIGITAL BIXENON HID LIFE WARRANTY

I just upgraded mine with a Phillips brand kit & not only was it very easy, but retains the hi/low function. Very bright & the color range is 6000k so it is VERY white. Price on the kit was around $300.00, but I think it was well worth it.

a very smart young man once sang a song with a chores that goes"move bitch get out the ,get out the way bitch ,get out the way ' thats what i plan on singing while driving down the road with hids installed .....screw that crap man your improving you headlights if somones dumb enough to stare at your headlights while driving whos to blame to moron who looked or you??? ild put the blame on the genius who decides to stare into a headlight.....but hey thats me i get blinded at work by headlights unintentionally all the time an have yet to careen off the road an die in a fiery car crash yet:waytogo:

that's just wrong..

the whole point behind projectors and aftermarket housings for hid's is because of the added control of the light. when you just throw hids in the factory housings--esp housings that use a single reflector for both the high and low beams-- you are risking a accident, because the light gets thrown everywhere.

it is the same effect as if you drove around with a led light bar powered up on regular roads. and that has been well published here that those are illiegal due to the extra light 'wash' that is being created. this is because people loose track of where the road markings are-- and that can create all sorts of problems..

the only thing i don't fully understand is who's fault that would be, though, i suspect it would be the person with the illegal lights..

not to mention the possible effects of melting the reflectors due to the extra heat that the hid's create(there has also been some speculation that cheap hid kits output more uv radiation then better quality kits, which, if correct, would mean that those kits would be creating even more heat)..

I have to agree with sound, after running HID in stock headlights for a year. At first I was like fck other cars I could care less but even if not looking directly at them it can be blinding, basically looks like your brights are on.

What made me switch was driving my wifes car with her behind me in the Raptor and I swore she had the brights on but she never did.

huh interesting i wasnt aware hids were illegal must have just passed that law sorry thanks for informing me ....might vary from state to state

my old truck had hids in it for over 3 years (in a stock housing a toyota tacoma in case your were wondering)an my reflectors where not warped,or changed in any way due to "extra heat"when i sold the truck last week looked pretty much like they did brand new. i know several people who have been running hid's in stock headlights with non projectors for a long period of time cheap ones at that an have never herd of any excess heat problems inside the head light maby its just a theory.

yes i completely agree you whont get the same control as you would with projectors you have no argument there, but some people cant afford it or simply dont want to swap headlights .

35 watt HIDs burn cooler than halogens. You don't need 55 watt HIDs. 35s are blinding enough, you don't need them any brighter.

There ya go! Offer an option, not a dig.
Don't mean to pop your bubble, but the same site I referenced shows the exact same kit you referenced for $149.99. Mine was an upgraded version @ $282.00 delivered.
Look before ya leap!
