I guess I'd expect them to be interested in why it caught fire? Professionally installed accessories shouldn't cause fires especially then the truck is off and has been sitting for 2.5 days IMHO. Especially given that recall 19S40, which can cause fires and applies to my VIN, could easily be the cause.

I'm not expecting them to write giant checks or anything, but a quick phone call being like "Super sorry that happened to you! We're taking this seriously and want to be sure it wasn't our fault" costs them nothing. Arranging for a loaner for a week would cost them very little and generate a lot of good will.

“Professionally” installed is not factory installed. I have seen plenty of “professional” installations that resulted in multiple vehicle issues, up to and including fires. Even when the engine is off, 12V power is still available, which means the aftermarket circuits/components would still have had power. Nobody is going to pay for a loaner unless it is determined to be a factory defect. Doing otherwise would imply responsibility for the issue, which puts the company at risk in terms of litigation.

If the dealership already completed 19S40, that’s not the root cause unless they simply didn’t do the procedure. Possible, but not very likely.

My best guess is that Ford will send out a fire inspector from their general counsel to inspect the truck at the dealer. Hope they can get to the bottom of it quickly!

Yeah maybe you guys are right. Hard to say for sure at this point. To be fair, Ford hasn't asked about any aftermarket accessories or anything, so as far as they know it was a stock truck. *shrug*

Having run my own businesses for 15+ years, even if I knew for a 100% fact some issue wasn't my fault, good customer service usually pays for itself. So I guess the current situation leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But sounds like I may be odd man out on that:)

No, you're absolutely correct as good or even better great Customer Service goes a very long way.

And it takes little effort to do so but many companies just don't understand or could care less.

The reason Ford doesn’t assist more is that “people” are not reasonable. They are usually dirt bags looking for money from someone to cover their stupidity. It’s a sad situation, but it is what it is. Ford is the first place to look because they have deep pockets. Hell if the insurance company pays up front then they will go after Ford for their money back. This country (USA) is literally chock full of greedy pieces of sh*t looking to take as much as they can from whomever has more than they do. It’s called leftism, socialism, democratism, and many more worthless isms too.
