Thanks Magic Dan. You are correct. I have other go fast cars, so I am leaning to The Rpt.

The SRT8 was almost a done deal until we discovered the Rpt. I have a 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban so I am used to large vehicles. I do appreciate this board and the honest replies.

I had the previous Generation SRT8 Jeep and traded the current generation Overland Jeep in for the Raptor, and while the SRT8 was fast and fun to drive it doesn't compare to the Raptor at all. I hated how small the Jeep's were and the '11 Overland had so many rattles and drivability issues I just wanted rid of it. I actually like driving the Raptor more than our M3.

GC SRT and Raptor are quite different.

I typically buy Mopar (currently own three), but the Raptor really caught my eye. I would do the same if I had it to do again.

Funny thing. I was looking at a 2012 Escalade to replace my 2007 Tahoe. At the same time while I was looking at the Raptor to replace my 2004 Z71 Silverado. The Cadillac dealer told me that the Raptor rode real rough. Man was he ever wrong.

I took it on a road trip to Georgia & back & it rode very smooth, & quiet too.

You can't go wrong with the Raptor IMHO.

The Raptor has made my short list. I'm not new to trucks or 4 x 4's.

It's a toss up between a Grand Cherokee SRT8 or a Raptor. The Raptor
would be a Supercab, Terrain, loaded. The better half is pushing for
the Raptor - she loves trucks. Most of my driving is in town, I would
like to take some highway trips - summer and winter - and think the
Raptor would be a great choice for bad weather.

Anyone have any experience in long distance trips with theirs? How are
they on snowy roads?

I know most you are probably biased, and that's OK. I just want some
honest feedback. Any options you must have? Any that aren't worth it?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answere.

Brian.
terrain scab? i dont understand your choice. pick another color and cab config. anything but that. why be the baddest ride in town if you can avoid it?

I owned a previous gen srt8 and enjoyed it. I also test drove the new one and while the fit and finish is better, I think the old one was a better driver. I prefer the raptor anyways, but given the changes that are supposed to occur to the jeep in 2014, I would not buy one now...the future changes are really going to make a better Experience in my opinion.

As previously mentioned, the SRT8 is not the most capable off road vehicle Jeep has to offer, while the Raptor is one of the best.
The Raptor is a great road trip vehicle, if you see an interesting dirt road; you can take it without a lot of worry. We have done a couple of long trips in ours and it’s a drive all day vehicle.
You didn’t say where you are from, so if your city driving involves New York City or other tight quarters like that, the width might be a bit bothersome. While you might be familiar with regular trucks, the Raptor is lots wider.
Prior to buying my wife’s F-150 we test drove every Jeep Cherokee except the SRT8 and found all of them uncomfortable (we had a ’04). I don’t know what Jeep did in 2011 & 2012 but I couldn’t stand anymore than 20 min in any of them. Maybe the SRT8 has different seats (like the Raptor does), but if you haven’t sat in one yet, you might want to before you sign on the dotted line.
A lot of it boils down to do you want to go fast on the road or off of it?

Nice! I can see your tongue in your cheek from here!

BTW. I live in Windsor, Ontario. I have reached the age where I want
to travel more. My wife and I love road trips, and I have known to take
an interesting road or 2 that I see beside the Intrerstate. I don't plan
on heavy off roading, just want to be able to not worry about taking some
back roads once in a while. And, if the occaision arises, go in the mud
and play! Honestly, I guess like the majority of owners the truck will
be mostly on pavement, so road manners and highway comfort is important
as well.

Then this is vehicle for you. Very comfortable on road, even better off road.
