The number of times Ford has bought back otherwise good trucks because the simply could not source a single failed part is simply staggering. I can think of 5-ish off the top of my head and I’d say it has not improved since 2017.

Honestly, this is more than a little frightening.
I’ll bet that GW module is about 300 in cost to Ford, probably 850 retail, give or take. Even if it’s 2x that much, who cares, it’s basically totaling the truck over a single part.

So now they have to reacquire the truck, and they will presumably have it fixed eventually, sell it to the stealership again who will sell it again but that’s got to be costing them several thousand dollars each time this happens.

I’m glad that Ford is stepping up to get you out from under this problem, and it’s just disappointing you have to go through this.

Agree - my preferred outcome was get my truck back and fixed…..it amazes me they are willing to buy it back over a failed part…..probably a part that doesn’t fail often so they weigh the risk reward - they sell 10K units and have one failed - they are still doing ok……just sucked it was me that had the one…….question I have for the group - should I just get my money back and go somewhere else, Toyota? Or should I see if they can fulfill a new raptor in a timely manner?

Who is your RAV agent? I just went through the buyback process after my truck was in the shop for 10 weeks. It was really easy, no lawyer required. I “countered” the buyback offer twice, and got almost full reimbursement from what I paid.

They’re not “willing” to buy it back, but since you applied for it they are required to comply with state law if the minimum criteria is met. Obviously they can’t get an EWGM, otherwise your truck would be fixed by now. After that I wouldn’t expect any favors in the future.

Toyota can’t even keep turbos on the new Tundras, never mind the fact that they’re 3/4 sized and are built as cheaply as possible. It amazing that the “go to” for some people is a foreign brand that covers up defects and settles litigation with NDAs.

He got a buy back from Ford, he didn’t file suit. Manufacturers would be outright stupid to hold some kind of grudge on a customer that they fücked over, and then agreed to make it right. It’s one thing to screw up. All companies do. It’s another thing to not be able to fix it. Even GoPro knows not to try and keep customers when the screw up and they have possibly the worst customer service model on earth with their trusty:
1) try a lower resolution
2) reinstall firmware
3) repeat
4) close the case
5) It’s still malfunctioning? Have you reinstalled the firmware?
...
there’s several more steps resulting in:
Replace the unit.

I’m glad they’re making it right but man, Ford... get with it.

Haven’t spoke to the buyback specialist (RAV) specialists yet….expect to hear from them tomorrow. Did they cut you a check or was it done at the dealer where the truck is sitting?

Why wouldn’t they give you full price to begin with? My truck was broke after 8-days and only 490 miles after I took delivery…..

The only other Raptor competitor out there is the Ram TRX. It boils down to what you really want and are you willing to trust Ford?
