That's good to really hard to overcome. Nuclear has had decades of bad press, and people remember. It's going to take quite a few Hollywood movies to turn that around.
If you're a boomer, that's true. But the newer generations think that climate change is a crisis. They're too young to know that there's always a convenient crisis because a crisis is an excuse for stupidity. It could be that my crisis trumps your vague fears. I honestly can't remember the last time I read about how evil nuclear power was. Fukushima, I guess, but that turned out to be NBD. Chernobyl? More of a big deal, but hidden from view by the Russians. And that was nearly forty years ago. Three mile island? I'll bet more than half of the voting public has never heard of it.

Ford should make it invite only so just elite people can get one. That way, the peasants won't even be tempted to stretch their budgets.

There are going to be some who get priced out the market, but most will not.
LOL Can you imagine the whining that would go on here? My ears are ringing already.

The wild card is nuclear power. Everyone with a brain on both sides agrees that it's the greenest source of energy we have. If we can implement it quickly, it could completely change the equation. Personally, I'm a cynic and I think that the Federal and State bureaucracies will slow everything to a crawl just to demonstrate how important they are. But maybe climate change hysteria will motivate them. Our whole world is so crazy complex these days that making any sort of prediction is a wild ass guess.
A grass hut on a Caribbean beach with a bottle of Run is looking good about now.

Bribem’s red headed spokesperson said they fully plan to replace oil - with solar and wind. Hence, without saying it they fully plan on letting oil prices go thru the roof and watching the economy tank. Expect Bribem to say something similar in the SOTU address tomorrow.

Placing the US back to full speed is not their goal. Shoving global warming is - even though they are not ready to replace the oil. Their main plan is to watch the population suffer and beg them to control you.

The electrical grid is not ready for the re-charging of everyone’s car - so look forward to having a car that you can’t charge unless the sun is shining.

The US Navy has championed nuclear power for decades - when is the last time you heard of a incident on a boat or submarine due to nuclear issues? (Answer - never). The green idiots prove their stupidity by not even suggesting nuclear power plants as viable alternatives. Even worse regulations will make sure this power isn‘t available until after the 12 years we have left before the world ends!

You mention the 3 I can think of, and my kids likely can only name one or two. I'm not even sure if there are other accidents. So you have a point. Also know that there are many nuclear plants, and subs, that have operating without issue.

However, do the powers can gain a lot more money by pushing solar panels and windfarms than they can nuclear power, without the risk of bad press and accidents.

But ... space. We need nuclear power for space. Whoever controls space can pretty much control everything down below. The climate crisis can be used as the excuse to rapidly develop the tech we need for something else. Wheels within wheels within wheels.

That is most likely, but I would also not be too surprised if they decide to open up things a bit for a short term. It's not really about energy efficiency and climate change, but winning elections. They need gas prices to go down, at least a little bit, for the mid terms. Basically, I think they might look for a way to appease the left base, which convincing independents that they care about their immediate concerns.
