Based on how Ford and it's dealerships handled the GT350, GT350R, Ford GT, Bronco and soon to be released Raptor R...my advice would be to bend over and expect to pay way over MSRP if you can even find one.

Wow… my Raptor is the first brand new Ford I’ve ever bought, I do my own oil changes, and my wife likes German cars. Not sure how much I could suck up to a dealer with those facts in the way lol

I appreciate the response though

He's absolutely correct though. Dealers, any business really, are going to favor doing business with customers they have a good relationship with, have sold to in the past and know they will sell to again in the future. That customer means a lot of profit, way more than the single purchase ADM they could get from you.

That's not to say that you won't be able to get one of the first one's if your willing to pay for it. You can also shop around and find a dealer who isn't trying to maximize profit for whatever reason, but if you want the best option, bring a lot of business to the dealer.

As an alternate suggestion, become a popular public figure. Get an acting gig, play pro sports, youtube star, or some other way to be looked favorably by the general public. Then offer to be a spokeman for the dealer. That will get you a good deal at the front of the line.

Do you see the pattern here? The more you can do for them, the more they will do for you.

The guys over on the GT500 forum went thru this back in 2019-20, from what I read, it was a huge PITA to secure an allocation on a base model and the track pack carbon cars were darn near impossible to get. If you can stand it, I'd recommend waiting 1-2 years until the buzz dies down and dealers have them sitting there @ MSRP (or right around MSRP) or pick up a low mile used R (as you see now with the GT500s). Good luck!

Establish a good reputation with your local preferred dealer. They respect loyalty. Having a home base dealer who you buy a few cars from, get all of your service done there, and most importantly send them referrals and leads on people needing to purchase. This goes a long way towards establishing your status with them. Work them constantly on the fact that your long term goal is buying an R. Basically the more biz you throw their way ups your value to them. The better you treat them and your attitude with them you will end up with an R.
Best advice given here.

Raptor R will be very limited. Perhaps the most limited production vehicle besides the GT (to put it in perspective).

bend, or
Seriously people. Relax.

I‘d like to point out that mere months after TRX was selling for $50k over sticker, they are now going for MSRP.

This is true, but leaves out some important subtleties. Good reputation means that you happily pay ADMs when times are normal and you happily pay MSRP when the dealer down the street is selling at invoice. They respect money. If they think that they can get more of it from you over the long run than they can get from someone else in a one-off, they'll do it.

"If" not really because Ford is playing with emotions , but because the release is far enough in the future, a lot can happen in a short time, and people like to sow doubt...casting off baseless opinions and guaranteed facts.

Same thing happened with the '21 Raptor. Ford spokesperson said there would be a '21 Raptor, but tons of folk claimed that there was a zero chance of that happening. Not sure you can blame Ford for that.
