Ain't that the truth, I've had 3 different tuners tune my truck through Cobb. Goose has been the only one to get it right. I guess if OP wants cheap I could recommend a Pedal Commander, granted I think those are trash.
The tune device "IE: Cobb, SCT, Etc" has zero to do with with how well the truck performs. It's all based on the ability of the tuner, as in the person writing the tune. Their modifications to the maps/settings are what make it a great or shit tune. not the device. Now their may be learning curves using the brands specific software to create the tune files, but in the end it's all fuel maps, timing maps, etc.

Pedal Commander is also NOT a tuning device. It's signal modifier that claims to do things it will not nor does it have the capabilities of doing.

@GooseTuned - Sorry to pull you directly into this but seems I need to get to the source to get actual hard data not personal opinions.
Have you even tuned with SCT/Derive Systems?
What comparisons can you give between SCT and Cobb?
What justifies their outrageous markup for their device, especially seeing that you have to pay another $400 to add ability to tune TCU? Excluding their gimmicks like the fuel pump control, pedal control multiplier, Auto start/stop, etc.

I have had no issues and am very happy with my tune from Offroad Alliance. Still uses the octane sensor in the truck so I don’t need extra maps. SCT tuner.

Offroad Alliance uses 5 Star Tuning for their tunes as far as I can tell. They are the same ones I am currently fighting with through Stage 3 motorsports to even get what I paid for after 3 weeks now.

Gearhead Tuning iirc. Unless 5 Star and Gearhead are the same. They had my tune to me next business day. @OffroadAlliance.com can answer, though. His customer service is the best I’ve come across.

I went back and checked offroad sites and looks like they only have a stage 1 package deal which includes tuner, plugs and the tune. Didn't see just straight out email tunes. I went right to Gearhead tuning site and will hit them up directly. Thanks for the info!

I like the JDM tune better than the Offroad Alliance. Shifts are smoother, the truck spins the tires shifting into 2nd gear and got rid of the hard downshifts. JDM will also adjust throttle input to your liking.

I’m replying in here because you asked. I typically stay out of these comparisons.

I have never tuned a raptor with SCT because I don’t like their software/support. Can I? Absolutely, but I won’t.

Customer support makes a big difference. Like a month or 2 ago when SCT users went to the dealership and did the cam phaser update, just to find that reinstalling the SCT wouldn’t work because the ECU ID had changed. SCT didn’t have a fix for weeks (is it fixed yet?) leaving users stuck. COBB had a fix in 2-3 days. You can’t put a price on customer service. Most typically only understand that when they need it.

The SCT device is old, really old. Blocky, fat, slow, etc...

As far as the tuning side COBB gives their pro tuner network a TON of reference and development data/source material from their findings as well as OEM. Having reach back to that when needed provides the customer with a better tune. A better understanding of the ECU and control makes a massive difference.

A gimmick is the use of trickery, which cobb isn’t doing. Fuel pump control is one of those things that when you need to get fuel out of the tank (like I do when on the dyno switching fuels) you’ll wish you had it. Press a button, fuel dumps (quickly mind you) and you can fill up with the alternate fuel. Saving dyno time, and money. 9/10 people use the auto stop/start disable feature. And I’m sure you’ve seen how popular the pedal commander is, COBB has that covered too. All of those things are extremely useful.

At the end of the day if the Accessport seems too expensive, I’d get what you can. The Accessport is a premium device, backed by premium customer service (from COBB and myself), with premium results.

We do sell the 5 Star Tunes. However our ORA550 tunes we partner with Gearhead.

And our ORA550 tunes will be available on the Cobb Accessport in June.

And just an FYI, I’ll be having a sale on the COBB Accessport package w/my tuning in a few days :)
