Noticed it was tougher to get the shifter into Drive this morning. Got to work and it rows through N, R and P fine but when I go back to D or M, it takes double the effort. Is something about to break?

Leadframe. Probably best to go to a dealer or you local shop.

Gave the interior floor area a long over due cleaning, took the mats out and gave them a good scrub, vacuumed under the seats and put stuff away that I'm sure I'll need later today.

Nope, sorry but this time it's facts. Married 01/29/83 but we've known each other since summer before 8th grade (52 years) and started dating our sophomore year in high school.

I’m considering a couple alternatives.

Detroit axle: claims lifetime warranty and is about $330, has same part number as cardone. Core charge is effectively the lifetime warranty.

Also considering advantage steering.
~$1350 but with $500 core. Reman in the US.

I called foutz, they scrapped the idea of an upgraded rack when they saw the potential cost for it.
