This morning, I walk out to my 2017 Supercrew and try to throw a bag in the back seat. After unlocking it, the rear driver's side door is locked. "What in the world," I think. I enter through the other side to investigate the issue and am greeted by this sight (First Image). rap1.jpeg rap2.jpeg Upon further inspection, I then bear witness to this shit (Second Image). I can hear the lock mechanism lock/unlock in that door, but nothing happens. I don't have much vehicle knowhow so I can't replace whatever's wrong myself, but I plan on just taking this to the dealership. Basically, how effed am I when I get the bill?

Guesstimate, under $20 for the part, and normal labor rate is usually around $100-120/hr at a dealer. You can probably get it done cheaper at a reputable body shop. Parts cost will likely be the same (they bill out parts at list price), but the labor rate is usually much less.

If you are dealer friendly done business with them— you might get ”customer good will” for free. doesn’t hurt to try.

@Scottx @Otis857 @Dane Dealership said $20 for the part, which is fine by me. I doubt it's covered under warranty, but if it is, I'll definitely have them replace it. However, if it's not, how would I go about removing the broken part myself and replacing it? I was able to grab the exposed screw with some needlenose pliers and is currently sitting in my garage in the unlocked position. I know I sound stupid, it should be able to just unscrew off, but the broken part is too deep in the well to just grab by hand.

@Carter Korb

If someone didn't break it then there maybe more wrong with it than just the plastic knob.
If the dealer fixes it, that work will have warranty.

Anyway here you go.
