so does this mean the break in oil can go further than 1000 miles?

Steve at van bortel recommended I waited 5k miles, that the oil IS break-in oil and its designed to run for 5k miles before changing

Maybe I'm just paranoid but I change it after a couple hundred miles (with semi-synthetic like it's filled with) then switch over to synthetic around 1000-1200 miles. There's always going to be some crap that gets flushed out after the motor gets ran for a while.

Some people do a few hundred miles when new. The manual says 7500. Anywhere in between is fine.

I changed the oil the first time at 1500 miles and used Motorcraft synthetic blend SAE 5W-20, second oil change was done at 3000 miles and I used MSB SAE 5W-30, third oil change was done at 5000 miles and I used MSB SAE 5W-30 again. With each oil change I used the Ford recommended Motorcraft FL-820S oil filter. From here forward I will transition to a 5000 or 7500 mile oil change interval and I'm debating on changing to full synthetic oil.
