Backpressure Issues

So here's the question

How much loss of backpressure is to much?

Now I'm asking this question for the ford techs and guys that are truly savvy about this engine...

But anybody's opinion is welcome

So with my most recent exhaust I absolutely love it.

One thing tho.. With the single chamber flowmasters I have them positioned to dump directly out the back before the rear axle

Being so at about 5k rpms I get a loud crackle/pop

Done some research and it seems the cause of this is simply a loss of backpressure and when the engine is flooded with fuel (5-6k rpms) gases make it down to the pipes and then combust...creating the popping noise

Now my question is how bad for the engine is this ?? Can I burn a valve?

It sounds pretty sweet and I'll be posting vids tonight about my desert trip today.. Only reason I am even asking is because my father heard it and convinced me it may be a problem

Maybe simply changing to larger chambered mufflers would solve this issue???

And again im running true duals 3 in all the way back from the cats with single chamber flowmaster race muffs

Wanted to voice my concern and share incase this is a problem and anybody else is considering doing this mod

SoSmoked, if the OEM cats are in place, it is very unlikely that any engine damage can occur from your exhaust mod. What is occuring is taking place in the mufflers and no where near the engine. The Roush exhaust we use on the Mustangs produces a very similiar noise and has not created any mechanical issues. Hope this helps.

Most of the time on motorcycle exhaust which are usually short, popping is usually caused by an air leak somewhere in the exhaust system. Check for any carbon leaking from your welds or joints which may indicate a leak. This may cause your popping on the truck as well.

It's the exact sound I got when I ran no muffler at all

Def not backfiring tho

Gotta be too little backpressure

I just am curious if it will harm my truck at all down the road

backfiring is when you have combustion in your exhaust system and that might be a problem.

Well it's certainly in the exhaust

And its only when I'm at WOT

The simplest way I had it explained to me is fuel making it down into the pipes because of too little backpressure which I guess equals backfire??

Being so I'm guessing the flowmasters aren't enough for this big engine and I'll have to swap them out for something else
