noticed the newer gen truck have an updated lock cylinder/ cover, so you cant just rotate the thing with a vice to open the truck id assume. Would that be able to be swapped onto the previous gen (without needing a new key i hope)? AFAIK the new gen has a lot of similar parts so hopin thats the case. I know it wont prevent theft completely but getting rid of one easy option is somethin id like to do.

Interested.
What’s that shield made of?

If it’s not “swappable” I wonder if we could fab something of our own?

kinda drawing a blank but i believe it was a hard plastic, the inside of the door handle seems hollow enough to fit them. I just hope its a separate part and not the entire lock assembly, and then how its mounted, seems mounted to the door so wonder if theres addl cuts in the door where it fits. Found one thread on the f150 forums about it but it kinda died.

Are you sure which models / years it’s on? checked and 21/22 door handle (not cover) part numbers were different.

I may make a trip to the stealership (ugh)

My guess is it’s not swappable.

G2 handle assembly is separate from the door. G3 got rid of the plastic ***** and covered the cylinder. Bronco is similar.

I did the passenger handle swap - just make sure to keep your battery alive.
