A little off topic here but it seems as if a lot of you know what's going on with the updates. I have a 2010 and was wondering if I update my firmware will it show the track/artist when using Bluetooth?

Geesh,

I was hoping this was fixed when I downloaded the SYNC update (this last weekend), but I now have the Lincoln badge and "Presidential" splash screen.

I have a 2013 and got the notice to update my SYNC.

Ford Tech Service - any help?

I updated my SYNC software to Gen2 - V3.8 (EA5T-14D544-AD) a couple of days ago and still have the Ford badge and Raptor SVT splash screen just like before the update.

Hi Guys, I am new here, and I just got a 2013. I installed the recommended update, and I got the Lincoln Presidential splash screen. Anyway, I just read this whole thread, and I saw the pathc posted by the Ford Rep. However, she said that it was intended for 2014. I tried it anyway, and I got an error.

I am a software developer, so I took a look at it and made a small change.
Change the autoinstall.lst file to the following:

Code:
;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!
;          Microsoft Windows Automotive         !
; USB Installation Directive File !
; Raptor Specific Patch for Startup Screen !
;                                               !
;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!

;;;
;;; The following tags are software versions supported by this update
;;;

[SYNCGen2_3.08.15128]
[SYNCGen2_4.32.14122]
Item1 = EA5T-14F496-MA
Open1 = SyncMyRide\EA5T-14F496-MA.zip
Options = AutoInstall

Hope that helps someone. It worked for me.

So I updated my 2014 to 3.8 this weekend figuring you know Ford wouldnt let the issues arise again of the splash screen changing... I was wrong. Upon final boot I was presented with a lovely Lincoln Presidential splash screen... Yay, Does Ford even QA what they put out?

So being frustrated I contacted SYNC support which they told me they were aware almost immediately and told me a master reset should clear my issue up. 4 or 5 resets later I still was receiving the Lincoln splash screen. So popped over to the forums to see what I could figure out...

Saw george16's post as quoted and downloaded the ford patch... no go, wouldnt install said it was incompatible or something similar. So cool must be a version matching installer aka looks for specific versions and will only install on those versions. Time to dabble. End result I made the install file generic and as soon as I plugged it in success! I got my raptor splash screen back. Here's the code if anyone else is having issues, I'm pretty sure it will work on any version as I dont have a tag in the install file for a specific version just a generation 2 radio. Enjoy!

Code:
;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!
;          Microsoft Windows Automotive         !
; USB Installation Directive File !
; Raptor Specific Patch for Startup Screen !
;                                               !
;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!

;;;
;;; The following tags are software versions supported by this update
;;;
[SYNCGen2_ALL]
Item1 = EA5T-14F496-MA.zip
Open1 = SyncMyRide\EA5T-14F496-MA.zip
Options = AutoInstall

P.S. I took a look at the files that are installed and saw .mpg video files and I'm willing to bet if I match a video file to the time/resolution/bitrate/filename of the factory files I could customize the boot screen =), might dabble with that at a later date heh.

I downloaded the upgrade from Ford last night and they seem to have fixed there issue as my splash stay Raptor with no additional effort. Based on the recommended little hack, it looks like it is not in the package from Ford direct.

So my take is that you may or may not have the splash screen problem. If you go to the ford owner website it should tell you if there is a sync update available. It will also have instructions. But the short version is as follows. Download the update to your PC. Take a USB flash drive formatted as a fat32 drive plug into PC. Most come this way. But you may have to if formatted as ntfs or some other file system previously. Extract the update which will be .zip file to the root of the USB drive. After that plug into truck and let it update. If after the final boot you have the raptor screen then your good if not then you will have to patch the raptor boot screen to get hose again. The problem I ran into was when I tried to apply the patch it did not match my system version so I had to modify the install file to apply no matter what version. The code that I applied is quoted in my previous post. Hopefully that clears up some confusion.

Yeah I'm not sure why my splash screen changed but I'm just happy I was able to fix it myself and not have to waste an hour at the dealer for something that took 10 minutes to code and fix.

The splash screen patch is posted in this thread. And then just use the code I posted earlier to replace the contents of the install script file.
