Well, I'm a little mystified. We are talking about a vehicle that has been optimized for high speed off-road travel. Now I mostly do my off-road work in the Colorado Rockies (it's why I bought the thing), but I know the desert pretty well too, and I've yet to see anything remotely suggestive of a concourse out there. I like my truck to look good as much as the next guy, but it's not a Porsche or a Corvette. It's going to get dirty, scratched, pitted, and abraded if used the way it was designed and engineered to be used. I'm not trying to hack anybody off and respect anybody who takes good care of these fine machines, but there's a practical side to this that I can't overlook.

Well I have been driving in various conditions for over 30 years and my trucks pretty much look like new on the outside when I trade them but look on the underside and that is a different story. You have a pretty funny view of the truck lol but it is pretty clear that you are not a car guy and there is nothing wrong with that not everyone is. Paint is paint -- does not matter if it is on my AMG, TTS, Lexus or the Cobra I take care of it to the best of my ability because it is fun. People that know me just shake their head when I get back from the ranch because the next day it looks new.

To use the excuse that it is it is not practial is an easy way out. There always two paths and without exception in taking care of paint on a vehicle it is the hard one. The "wax" I use works very very well in the harsh places I have to go--some will not understand why someone would spend an hour waxing the truck just to go and take it offroad.:laughing1:

When I trade mine in then it is nice to get top dollar and most of the time esp with this one 3 guys have already asked me to call them when I do sell it because of the way it is taken care of from the paint to the transfer case fluid.

You think this is bad you should see the way I clean my firearms!:Whoa:

think of it this way...... boss does detail, so he will have a shiny truck
i am an installer, so i will have a nice audio/video system
the light guys will be the brightest
the bumper guys will all have nice bumpers
the suspension guys will have the longest travel
so for each person its different. its just a matter of what each individual wants to do to their truck

Got started looking at sealant products after reading Boss Hoss's thread.

I went to AutoGeek.net and spent about 2 weeks reviewing the products from professional detailers like Boss Hoss.

After all the research, I have decided to go with BlackFire Wet Diamond. It get's great reviews for durability and ease of use. ...

I want shine, but I want something to protect the paint when I get desert pinstripes.

What products do you use? I have used Klasse for years. I was looking into Blackfire. Any thoughts?

Hey Mike.....just thought I'd throw in here. I use Klasse AIO all the time.....love that stuff, hard to make a mistake. Over the years tried a lot of other stuff [read "$$$$$$$$"]...both waxes and polymers [but not the Klasse SG....could never get the hang of that stuff]..... as a topper over the AIO. 'Been using BFWD (Blackfire Wet Diamond] as a topper for a little over a year now. Really nice stuff....goes on/comes off easier [read "hard for me to skrew it up"]. I usually wait overnight and apply a second coat of BFWD. I did that about 6 months ago, didn't wash it (except once with a waterless wash)....finally got to detail her again last week......water still beaded up nicely....granted she spends more time in the garage than outside [I'm on a motorcycle whenever possible], but that's still pretty darn good.....and it looks killer on tux black. Now if I can only remember to do the waterless wash thing a few times a month to keep up :Stupid Me:

If you go with the BFWD, remember to shake the hell out of it before using [my understanding is that it is an oils-containing emulsion].

Thats a good idea, I think I will try. My New Raptor 2013 coming will be in Black. I heard BF is good on black.

The Sealant Glaze is tricky. But try this, if you'll very lightly spray some Sonus Sonacrylix over the dried SG and use a good MF towel, the SG will wipe off easy and quick. Yes spray it lightly, right on your truck/car. Like 2 sprays for the hood, one for each body panel. Not alot, just till it wipes off easy. The good thing is that the Sonus has the same "acylics" that the Klasse's have.

Thanks Mike. I've got the Sonus product; will give it a try if I ever get the urge to try SG again [might give it a try on a sidewall in the box.....kind of use it as a "test bed" :). That said, the ease of the Blackfire product will spoil you. Since you've used SG for a while, 'be interesting to hear how the longevity compares if/when you try the Blackfire product.
