I'm buying my first truck and have my mind set on a gen 1 raptor that's out of state. This one is going for about $36k with 91k miles and 3 owners. Don't know the ins and outs of a gen 1 so if anybody can help me figure out if this one is clean and in good shape.

Here are some pictures that the seller has provided me. Visually it looks in good shape my concern is the rust on the muffler and in some other areas.

Thanks

The frame looks ok. 3 pictures is about 1/100 of the amount of pictures needed though. Nothing glaring in the pictures, but one could take a few pictures of a dumpster fire and make it look good.

What year is this gen 1? For that price I would only consider sight unseen if its a 2014.

Yea I definitely see where you're coming from. I'll find out a lot more once I check it out in person. And yea this is a 2014 gen 1 special edition, upgraded Geiser springs and rebuilt shocks. Is this raptor overpriced?

That is approaching Gen 2 pricing with similar miles..I think. I don't study the market, but I would do some more research.
I looked at the Gen 2 raptors around this price range but something about the 3.5 ecoboost with 100k miles doesn't sit right with me. Especially after all the issues I've seen that occur around that mileage.

Only outstanding thing would be cam phasers. Runs about $3000 to have done if needed. It's so much better to drive.

For a 2014 with that mileage the price isn’t out of the ordinary, but it better be in tip top shape. It might be a touch high depending on your location. Id be more comfortable at 30-32 in my area at least.

Yea I think you're right about that. I've seen about almost 90% of people say the gen 2 drives much better.

Well I'll definitely keep my options open then. Reliability is big factor for me.
