Blinker problem

I own a Gen 1 and over the past month the passenger side blinkers began hyperblinking but stops and then they work correctly. I decided to replace all four blinker bulbs but the part store only had LED’s. I installed them and now the front driver side blinker does not come on at all. The left rear blinker hyperblink. The front passenger blinker stays on and doesn’t blink. The rear passenger side blinker hyperblinks but in the wrong place. The top bulb now hyperblinks. I went back to the store today and bought resistors. Will this help or am I wasting time?

I'm assuming you checked the blinker fluid first, before you started replacing bulbs!!

Did you check to see whether one of the bulbs was burnt out before you replaced them? It sounds to me like it might be an intermittent connection and not a bulb at all. I'd check the bulbs first and if they all work, start wiggling wires ...

there were lots of issues in the past regarding hyperflash and leds for the gen 1. not going to go into to it too deep, but it was basically a trial and error situation. different resistance with different trucks. as mentioned, i would check all the connections first and see if there were any bulbs out

Aren't there two bulbs per side in the rear? Meaning you should have replaced six total, not four?

Don't bother trying to wire in resistors; you'll only end up with a hacked up harness and additional issues.

I recommend installing OEM equivalent bulbs (Sylvania, etc) and then re-evaluate. If the concern is still present and you have access to ForScan, pull DTCs from the SJB (early Gen 1) or BCM (later Gen 1) and see what faults are setting. ForScan can also perform an On-Demand Self Test which will test the entire system and report back to you with the current DTCs/faults present.

I know it sounds too simple but I found that some leds prefer a direction of polarity. When I put in new reverse bulbs neither would light up took them out flipped them around and **** they worked. I don’t think this fixes your intermittent issue but the front that is out completely just try flipping it over...

Forscan premium will allow you to disable the hyperflash, but you will no longer have any indication your lights are burnt out.

There is no flasher relay; they're powered by the SJB or BCM.
