Its still a delicate Stephanie inside which will leak its delicate oil pan, and start making weird noises, with its ladies internals, go back to dealership 10 times in first 6 months of ownership.
Its about reliability and longevity as well. Even if above mentioned doesn't happen, the fear of it happening is worse.

I am holding off until 2020 for a Raptor SCAB. Like most potential buyers I could care less if a V8 is offered down the road. 16-17 mpg and 450hp are a perfect combo in my opinion. I just want Ford to address the VCT and cam phasers once and for all on the Raptor 3.5L EB engine. I don’t want to be stuck with a $4000 repair bill when the truck is out of warranty. I can see a class action lawsuit coming down the road.

The thing is they haven't fixed it in so many years, why they'll do it now? Specially when folks keep buying anyway.....

There’s a few reasons Ford went all in on smaller displacement boosted engines- sure there’s CAFE regs & these engines are great at delivering good mpg in a controlled testing environment, but realistically not that much better or worse. My gut tells me there’s a lot of Raptor owners who aren’t necessarily Ford brand loyal and/or owners who were never really “truck guys” & haven’t been keeping up w/ the gearhead news.....but the other thing is Ford simply does not make very good V8s, & they haven’t in a long ass time which makes me chuckle when this is brought up- for me GM & Dodge are THE V8 brands, then Toyota, then Ford then everyone else.

To put it this way If the Raptor was a GM product I wouldn’t even consider it w/ a tt V6 (and yet GM 30+ years ago was known for good FI V6s), and if Dodge and/or GM do decide to put a blown V8 in a Raptor competitor type off-road truck then guess what? It won’t matter if Ford puts their own V8 into a new Raptor b/c people will flock to the Dodge and/or GM variants (all else being equal) knowing they’re getting a better engine platform. Arguing otherwise is fanboy nonsense.

So maybe Ford should just stick to their tt V6?

The HOEB out preforms the GM and Ram V8 engines in all things except sound. It’s really not that hard to understand. But whatever let’s put a less powerful engine in a Raptor because it sounds cool. Just like those four banger civics with loud mufflers on the streets.

If you remove the turbos from the HOEB, how much power will it make on its own? Less then 300.... or even 250....???
Its not just the sound. Its the whole personality of the truck. If Toyota put a v8 in Prius, how would it feel? Actually here is what my common sense tells me, looking at the latest automotive industry trends, or standards, first thing they decided to do is make everything disposable, 1 year life, like they did in mobile phones. Secondly, every year comes a new model, or in increased hp number in cars case. So what they are doing is saving the v8 for later. So 1st Gen was 411 hp, 2 Gen is 450, 3rd Gen will be like 510 or 520, and that's it for the HOEB. That's pretty much the limit if they have to offer some little reliability and warranty, then they will start with a v8, 4th Gen 600 hp, supercharged or turbo, 5th gen 650 hp, u get the point. Look at whats happening with mustangs and dodge challengers, or iphones or laptops, now i hate this spec war, limiting the product life and reliability to a year. THIS WHOLE WAR IS ONLY BENEFITING THE MANUFACTURERS take your money without you even realising it. And folks these days, they don't think of products life in terms of 10 years or 20 years.

Do you even read the drivel you write? You sound like a liberal. Don't like it, don't buy it. In the meantime I will enjoy driving a kickass truck getting 16.2 MPG, 25k miles a year. Beat that shit.

I would have gladly paid a gas guzzler tax for a v8 raptor, ford knows this as every single gt350 owner and every gt500 owner is happy to pay the same gas guzzler tax.

I have serious doubts as to ford bringing out a v8 raptor ever again. I do hope yall keep talking about it for other reasons.
