I had two TRXs over the last year (base model and a Level 2). The TRX is flat out better than the Gen 2. Have off-roaded, towed, did long trips, etc. and the coil spring rear of the TRX cannot be touched with Deavers/Icon leafs or upgraded shocks for the Raptor. The TRX is extremely comfortable to drive and the interiors are on another game than Ford. Those were my first purchases from Ram and the entire process was much better than Ford over the last year. I would buy one and not look back. There are a lot of Gen 1 and 2 Raptor owners that made the switch and have not regretted it.

In my opinion, the TRX is not better than my Gen 3. But the two trucks are very close and just depends on what you value.

I could careless about fuel economy and enjoyed every minute driving the TRXs. I would normally notice at 2-3 mpg difference between the Raptor and TRX. On a conservative forecast, you are looking at a $1300-2500 difference a year in fuel. In a more liberal forecast, maybe $3-5k. Either way, if those numbers effect you financially, then you shouldn’t be driving a Raptor to begin with.

Don't. I'll tell you exactly why.

-9 MPG at best
-Very nose heavy because of cast iron engine block
-Raptor will beat it any day in the desert
-Raptor has every better off-road capability on paper and in reality
-TRX is way more expensive
-Raptor is available with 37" tires

If the rear end kicking out to the side on any major bump that you hit constitutes as being better off-road and having better off-road capability, then by all means, go with the Gen 2.

I purchased a 2022 TRX, level 2 package, plus other options. Have never owned a Raptor but looked into it when shopping for a high performance truck. I gotta say I am thrilled with my TRX for so many reasons including the fantastic horsepower, well featured interior, burly looks, and more. It's been 100% dependable so far with no warranty service to date. MPG is reasonable at highway speeds with cruise control (I can average 15 mpg, sometimes even 16 mpg) but it sure drops for stop-and-go.

Ordering was easy from a dealer offering discounts from MSRP with no hassles or surprise charges. RAM could never provide accurate dates for production or shipping. Took about seven months from ordering to pickup at the out-of-state dealer. Great experience overall, much-enjoyed truck for my family.

Come on man, are you really posting a picture of TRX on here? It’s a Fiat, I think they copied the old Tecumseh engine.

I had a 2020 Raptor that I bought in March of 2020 when people weren’t buying vehicles. I was able to snag it for $4,000 off sticker, which I thought was a great deal on a Raptor. It was a fully loaded Raptor (minus the decals). It really was a nice truck.

I later traded that same truck for a 2021 TRX that I got for $6,000 off sticker on a custom order. I was also given $4,000 more for the Raptor than I paid for it.

I love my TRX, and it’s a better vehicle for me than the Raptor was. I have absolutely zero regrets. That said, the TRX may not be the right truck for everybody. I don’t have access to places where I can off road at high speed (mostly old forest service roads in Montana), so that really wasn’t an issue for me.

Just my random thoughts between the two:
- The TRX obviously wins the HP/TQ wars
- The exhaust note on the TRX vs the EcoPoop is considerably better
- The TRX is a fat and heavy bastard. If you off road at speed, this may be something to consider
- I regularly saw 500 miles per tank on the Raptor, and you’ll see 400 miles on a TRX if you’re lucky (better plan on closer to 350 miles)
- The TRX is a comfortable long road beast, but honestly the driver seat in the Raptor was a little better for my 6’8” frame
- The 12” infotainment system in the TRX is pretty nice, but I’d prefer a hard button for heated/cooled seats and the heated steering wheel
- From a dig at a stop light there’s not a lot on the road that is faster than a TRX
- The TRX is a more fun daily driver to me

Honestly, both are great trucks. I had high hopes for the R, but at $110,000 it’s just too rich for my blood. Again, the TRX was a better fit for me, but it might not be for you.

All the people I've met so far that have TRXs are happy with them, but they were also all gen 2 owners or had never owned a Raptor. Anyone trading a gen 1 at this point is doing it for tech jump and no one is trading a $20K ADM gen 3 for an under msrp TRX. TRX is better than a six years older gen 2 from a tech/speed standpoint for sure.
