My new PB Scab is getting a set of methods tomorrow and I was planning on reusing the stock sensors. However I’m not exactly sure how the sensors mount in the wheel and my tire guy said if they mount using a rubber piece(valve stem??) then I would need to use new ones but if they are the screw in type then I could reuse stock ones?? If someone could provide insight on this for me I’d appreciate it greatly!!7975F41D-B228-4B76-94E6-34575C4F4E16.jpeg108364D6-8ED3-421B-9C88-9F3DF484EA70.jpeg

OK so by the looks of it, they will be able to just take the valve stem and sensor from the stock wheels and slap them directly into the methods with nothing additional then?

They should, but you never know. I had my stock tires mounted on aftermarket rims @ 4K miles and they had to replace one of the TPMS. Luckily they had one in stock.

a little late but you'll need new valve stems that hold the tpms, most tire shops should stock valve stems like this.

Let me just offer a quick suggestion here - find the parts and buy them ahead of going to the tire shop. A lot of these tire places mark up small stuff like valve stems several hundred percent. So you’re sucked in with a small quote but they come out and say ‘sorry, we can’t reuse these valve stems, they’re a year old. we have them in stock, for $49 per wheel. would you like us to put these on or put your old stuff back’.

Not all tire shops, but if you’re just going to the local NTB or similar, watch out for this.

Correct

I was in a Discount Tire store and watched the staff tell everyone that their TPMS sensors were bad and needed a rebuild kit they had in stock.

Its the new money maker.

funny you mention that, i called ford to ask for stock valve stems, just the stems, he quoted me $45/piece. even he was surprised and thought it included the actual tpms also.

i ended up getting a set from amazon for $10, didn’t end up using them because my buddy just threw on the metal screw on type, similar to the the ones bmw used for free lol.
