I drive with, have driven with, will drive with, gas cans in my truck, van, car whatever. The static electricity is an issue no matter what. I always touch the metal panel of whatever car I am filling up before putting the nozzel in. I always put the containers on the ground before filling. I always vent the cans in an open space throughout the day. If we just use a little common sense it's not as big of an issue. I'm sure you could have an issue with gas cans on bed liners, bedrug, carpet but the chances are much lower if you remember to take care and follow some simple saftey procedures when hauling gass (see what I did there). I'm sure it's much safer hauling gass(did it again) than going to the doctor...

i could drive to the convenience store every day for 30 years to buy lotto tickets, with a gas can in my truck bed ,and would probably have a better chance of winning the lotto than blowing up on the way.

Let's see...1 trip per day to the convenience store x 365 days per year x 30 years = 10,950 trips to the convenience store.

Odds of winning a lottery where the winner must pick 5 numbers out of 45 numbers = 1 in 1,221,759

I'd say you have a MUCH better chance of blowing up. 1118 times better.

70% of statistics are made up on the spot. I have a gas can in my bike trailer I fill up when I take the bikes out, and its always strapped in while filling and has never blown up. Yet.

i bet more people win the lottery nationally every year than whose gas tanks blow up. and more people 18+ pump gas than people who play the lotto. i don't see the logic Dan
