This was one of the articles that really sold me on the Raptor. The (way oversimplified) conclusion was that the Raptor could *basically* hang with the PW in the back country, but that the PW had no chance catching the Raptor in the flats. And adding some sort of recovery ability to the Raptor seemed to level the playing field even further.

Good (re)find Falcon! Thanks for posting it up here.

I used to be a Chevy guy until the gov. had to bail them out. I have converted to Ford, my orange blood has turned blue, and I now have a fondness for Ovals. Just saying....

This was a good review, and if you believe the author, he may have put two issues that have come up on this forum to rest:

1. The author says that the tires on the Raptor are a softer compound than the traditional BFGs, and aid in handling and braking.
http://www.svtoffroad.com/showthread.php?281-Stock-Raptor-BFG-Tires-What-makes-them-unique&highlight=compound
2. The author says that the Off-Road Mode holds the butterfly's open. I assume, then, that engine output and RPM are controlled with the injectors, timing, and/or lift??

well the tire thing had been pretty much settled, but I knew I had read the throttle thing somewhere...
