I will start off with my list of performance mods: stainless works headers and true dual exhaust and 5 star 93 tune and 5 star intake. All mods are atleast 1 year old. Now the prOblem. On my way to Indiana from Virginia under heavy load such as climbing mountains in west va the check engine staring flashing and lost a lot of power. Pulled over and it stopped and did fine then the next hill it did the same thing. So I have two tuners from 5 star which are both 93 and comparable for the mods and it doesn't flash the check engine any more but you can tell it does not have the same a**. Fuel mileage is stAying about the same ad truck only has 19k miles and just services it 1k ago and i do service every 3k. Truck is a 2010 scab 6.2 any ideas. Thanks

I have a long drive back on Monday so hopefully I will figure it out. Thought maybe the cats were clogged because it doesn't even sound the same and isn't throughing any codes on dash

Sounds like the thing leaned way out or even went stoich. I say that because of the huge air your mods introduce, the load you were under and the altitude I assume you were at.

5 star probably richened up the mix and/or played with the timing a ton. Without having your truck on their dyno under their watchful eye, they're just taking their best guess and probably playing it real conservative at the same time.

In other words, yeah I'd expect to feel less power under the conditions you're pushing. But the good thing is you won't lean out your motor and blow it up either, so pick your poison ;) Best thing you can do is get safely home, and then get to a tuner with a dyno and have them tune for your truck with your mods under the conditions you expect to run in. You'll probably end up with 2 or 3 different tunes you'll pick from depending on the expected conditions.

That's wht I was thinking and now that I'm in Indiana an out of the hills it is still real sluggish and needs a lot more pedal to get it going. But no check engine light flashing. Hopefully that's all it is and when I get home I will check it out

If the check engine light flashes again, hook up your SCT devise and retrieve the code/s. Or/and try hooking it up now and looking for stored codes. The problem may not even be the aftermarket accessories. Need to see whats turning on the check engine light and go from there. Also, flashing check engine light means it's a serious enough problem to cause damage and needs to be looked at ASAP.

Check engine light is not that serious and will not put it into limp mode, there would be a wrench displayed if it was.

Might want to double check the service manual on that. All manufacture OBDII system flash the CEL when there is a serious malfunction where damage may occur (unless you consider your truck lighting on fire "not that serious"). It will "limp" the system like a fualt illuminating the wrench light or a CAN bus fault.

Exactly as I have always heard. Service Engine light = issue, but still OK. Flashing Service Engine Light = Immediate Attention Required.
