No idea but they did. There are a lot of improvements on the Gen 3, but they dropped the ball on a couple things IMO. They also dropped the turbo boost from the main gauge display. I know it’s a worthless gauge but it was fun to watch lol. There’s probably a way to add it but I haven’t messed with it yet.

Yep, you can add it and adjust it with various guages.. it was the very first setting adjustment I made on mine :)

I tow a 27 foot (hitch to bumper), 5500lb travel trailer with mine, towed it with my 17 and my 19 also. I would say the 21 is a better tow experience but it still sags pretty bad without the Equalizing hitch, I use the R6 with 1200lb bars and they keep it almost level. I'd say it isn't optimal with my setup but I don't have any problems either. Not to sure what my tongue weight is but I'd guess about 550 lbs or so. I don't use the backup assist or the sway control as the R6 sway control seems to work fine. I have the 37 version and it has plenty of power, gets about 9mpg on average at freeway speeds with no wind. If I am on back highways at 65 I get about 10.5mpg. In Utah at 85mph (speed limit there was 80) I was getting 6mpg. So overall not to bad for a truck that really wasn't designed to tow.

Best thing is the 37 gallon tank, With my other trucks they were the short versions and the 22 gallon tank was a bummer while towing.

Not sure if this helps but its my experience.
Hey, do you mind sharing the model of your trailer and possibly a pic hooked up to the truck? I am renting someone's trailer in May for a trip up to Michican. From the research I've done, the Gen3 should be able to pull it but I just want to make sure. It's a 2021 Jayco Jay Flight 267BHS. 7k lbs max loaded (5840 unloaded), 695 lbs hitch weight (dry), and the owner lends the weight distributing hitch with the trailer. I don't plan on filling up the water before we go since the campground we will be staying at has hookups so I SHOULD be close to the dry weights.

With this truck I've towed an 18ft utility trailer (approx. 3k lbs) with 4800 lbs of bricks in it. No weight distribution hitch so it sagged horribly and sat on the bump stops for the 6 miles home. Hoping an 8 hour drive will be a better experience.
