I had my bed sprayed with Line-x and noticed this hole in the tailgate. I don't recall it being there before the Line-x being done and wondering if someone can tell me if I am missing anything and what the purpose of the opening is for? It's right between the 2 center bolts at the top of the tailgate, opposite of where the handle is.

looks like it's a hole for a fastener if you had the tailgate step/liner

I had it before my LineX job, and after. Dealer says it is an emergency access hole for the tailgate mechanism of some kind (not sure how accurate that is, but it seems many of the trucks have it). :hmm:

actually you know what it is...there's that yellow lock pin on the tailgate extender that goes in that hole when the extender is flipped out :)

Don't tell anyone you have an emergency access hole in your tailgate though.

Unless that's your thing. You know...

I noticed the hole on my truck right after I got it. I actually stopped by the local Ford dealer and checked a couple other trucks. Obviously, they had the holes too. I'm going to put a puch pin or grommet in there.
