You ain’t kidding- I’m in the business, work for an aluminum recycler/manufacturer, sell ingot directly to the manufacturers & also to other OEM parts diecasters, + sell other sow/shredded products to the mills that produce the body sheet. We have a yearly formula contract w/ Ford w/ a “min/max” tonnage they agree to that typically they shoot to just avg it out month by month & ensure that by year end they’ve met their min obligation (vs buying all of it upfront only to sit on a bunch of raw product taking up space/$$$ etc) but they opted to take NO delivery for the month of may & only 1/2 for June. Not a good sign- & they’re telling us it’s bottle necks in sourcing various parts, modules, & of course chips + labor shortages. My company is having labor issues as well & a bunch of our input costs have gone through the roof.
