GEN 2 10r80 rebuild kit - 11+wks

Took my gen2 to the dealer 11wks ago with about 12k on the clock. Tranny felt like it was slipping between 4 and 5. Tech trouble shot and said there was definitely a problem with 4th gear but needed a rebuild kit before tearing into it. Dealership said they made a priority order for the kit. 11 weeks later, no kit, and dealer has no idea when they might get one.

I get the supply chain issues but going on 3 months is getting ridiculous for what should be a common part given the number of tru is with this transmission. Any one having similar experience with sourcing a rebuild kit? Is there any way to escalate this with Ford?

You should give customer service a call , if it's covered under warranty.

Dealer is dropping the ball. If a part is on backorder beyond a specified time period or has no ETA they are supposed to escalate to the next level assembly. Which in your case means a complete transmission.

Bring it up to the dealer first. If they don’t take care of it, open a case with Ford Customer Care.

Update: left a message for service manager earlier today. The service rep I have been working with called back and said they had just found a rebuild kit and ready to schedule the repair. I am sure it was a coincidence…..

Update: 4weeks at the dealership. Tore down the trannie and couldn’t pinpoint the issue. Had the option of rebuild without knowing the exact problem or waiting until 2022 when Ford apparently was changing replacement policy. Decided to wait a few days and got a “new” transmission installed. Got the truck back today and it is so much better (at least on the drive home).
