Does anyone have experience using an Accusump on our 6.2L engines? Mine makes a little clatter on startup and it goes away quick. Would the preluber just hide the symptom and not fix the problem; excessive valvetrain lash as FordTechOne said?FWIW most vehicles have a tick at startup, it's the lifters. Pre-oiling, such as an Accusump setup, helps with that problem. Nothing to worry about on most vehicles but it sounds like more severe issues with the last few posts

Yes, that world be a band aid for the actual issue. Clatter on startup can be lash adjusters or a failed cam phaser. It can also be caused by a faulty anti-drainback valve within the oil filter. I’d start there.

! It's not pinging, my ear is well tuned to that sound. I'm just talkin' about the first few seconds after startup, I'm remote starting, walking up to it and I can hear it quiet down in 2-3 seconds as oil pressure builds.FishFreak

Hey FTO, if I'm in there replacing the lash adjusters, should I also do anything else, preventatively, like change the valve springs? I'm at 133k miles and I'd like to keep this truck forever, so using high quality replacement parts is key, so if you can recommend specific lash parts I'd appreciate it

Is there an interference between the valves and the pistons on our engines? Is a broken valve spring usually catastrophic? Can you recommend a source or brand for high quality valve springs, and lash adjusters for that matter? I'd like to put in better ones than Ford did.....

Yes, if a valve spring breaks it will often cause the retainer to come off and the valve drops into the cylinder. That causes catastrophic engine damage.
Maybe someone here can recommend a good aftermarket upgrade from factory, I’m only familiar with the OEM parts.
