Currently have 4700 miles on the clock and will be scheduling my first oil change. Had a few questions as this is my first time dealing with Ford dealership maintenance. Looking for some general advice on what additional preventative maintenance I can ask for.

-Would the tech preforming the work install a Fumoto valve for me (or at least let me get under the truck while the plug is removed)? Want to make future oil changes easier on everyone and leave the undercarriage as mess free as possible.

-Would a tech lube the rails of the moonroof with the recommended Krytox lube if I asked? Or is this only allowed if undergoing the TSB for a rattling roof? Want to ensure the correct PM is done however the lube itself is expensive.

Before anyone asks, yes I bought an extended service plan for the truck. Current lifestyle necessitated it otherwise I'd happily do the work myself.

I would highly recommend to have Amsoil or other quality full Synthetic oil used for your oil change. The Motorcraft factor Synthetic Blend is not a good oil.

You can ask them, I’d give it about a 75% chance of being done.

My local stealership did this free of charge with my all encompassing, somewhat pricey routine service. So yes, ask for it. This is cheap insurance against a time consuming and expensive repair. You may want to ask them to order or sell you some of the krytox grease. Internet lore says it’s very effective and friendly to the rubberized gaskets for the glass.

No judgment. Lots of folks farm out maintenance work, use the time you save to do other stuff on the truck - cleaning, wax, visual inspect, mods, whatever.

I understand you have an extended service plan, but I would only use that for warranty related issues. IMO, your best bet is to avoid the dealership service department as much as possible. Do maintenance work yourself, that way you know it gets done right and with care. Definitely install the fumoto valve, Raptor oil changes are messy but not after the valve install.

By the time you drive to your dealership, wait for an oil change (and whatever else), then drive back home, I can guarantee that you could have already changed the oil, added the Fumoto valve, and lubed the rails of your moonroof.

I would burn a whole day going for an oil change. Plus, they’d try to feed me more BS for additional service.

I would not trust anybody to install the Fumoto except myself. I double and triple check everything.

Great idea!

If you’re lazy like me, I snap a pic of the odometer @ the oil change interval. Shows the date and oil life %. Same with coolant level etc. I have a photo album on my phone where I drop all the maintenance pics.

Appreciate all the great advice!

I agree with you all that if you want the work done well, the truck to be treated right, and the right parts to be used then you have to do it yourself.

This truck is quickly becoming my favorite hobby so I think I'll take the plunge and get everything I need to work on it myself. Logging the maintenance myself is a great idea too. Definitely stealing that one.

Buying a Fumoto valve now and will head to the store today to buy AMSOIL/filter/drip pan/kitty litter/funnel.

One follow up question, is there a way to reset the oil life monitor on the Ford Pass App or will it reset itself?
