Take a look at attached video...am I joining the cam phaser/timing chain club? 2018 with +/-30,000 miles

Mine is doing exactly this at every cold start now. Need to upload a vid and contact my dealership. It also has a pronounced periodic clattering at warm idle from the front of the engine, unsure if related, can't remember if it was doing it a few thousand miles ago. Could be injector noise, but I'm thinking not. Need to check if my friend's new truck is doing the idle tick.

I love this truck, but including mine, 5/6 of the trucks I'm familiar with have now experienced the phaser issue, and the one that hasn't experienced the issue is 1 month old.

I think my MO is going to be to purchase the extended warranty and not mod its engine... which is unfortunate because I'd like to turn up the boost some.

Had the phasers replaced on my rig this week. 2018 with roughly 8300 miles. No engine mods/tune. Build date 9/17. Everything was replaced under warranty.

Wait a couple of weeks and I hope yours doesn't come back, mine did, same week I brought it home.

Saw your postings, lame. Will see what happens. I'm considering getting rid of this truck.

Is there any correlation to having and keeping the autostart /stop enabled and the failures? I have 2 raptors in the family. an 18 and a 19. Both unmodified. 18 has 38k, 19 has 4k and I haven't had any issues at all. First thing I do is disable the autostart/stop when I turn it on. I would think the consistent changes to the oil pressure might have an effect.

no, this issue goes back to the first Gen EcoBoost platform and those didn't have auto start stop.

I've disabled mine almost every time I drive and have had frequent oil changes at the dealer.

Geesh, maybe I’ll go back to owning a Land Cruiser if it weren’t for the crappy seats. I’ve never had issues with the two 200 series I’ve owned. I literally sold my last 2016 200 because my lower back would get sore after 50mi. of driving. I really want a new Raptor but these engine issues after 50k miles is ridiculous. I had over 140k on my 2008 LC with zero issue and I off-road it in the Rockies many times.
