I must be easily impressed. Wet road this morning, put big blue in 4A and put 250lbs of pressure on the accelerator. It launched us around the corner and to 70mph in a very satisfying way.

I would compare it to my G35x. By no means the fastest or quickest vehicles on the road but a damn sight better than most.

I still find it hard to believe people don't think the stock truck is fast. For a 3 ton truck, it pulls harder than most sports cars of previous decades. If you want to be the fastest stock truck on the road you need to get the 2019 Limited that shares our engine.

Again, it was designed to go fast offroad, which it excels at. Could you do this is another stock vehicle? I'm willing to bet most of you in person would be very surprised at the speeds you can hit stuff offroad and be fine.

I could have done this section at 80-90 in retrospect.

On a side note, my friend who knows an engineer on the Raptor team, confirmed that the computer will not allow full fuel delivery during break in.

Man I'd love to talk to the engineering team and ask them about some of the electronics programming. Not been successful reaching them tho

The last posts referencing break in programming makes a lot of sense, thanks to the others that brought meaningful insight to the discussion. To the fellows I offended, get over it, my truck is gutless, maybe it has a problem, maybe it does not. I did not post this to start a conversation about unrealistic expectations. I have owned a lot of trucks and worked as a fleet mechanic for 7 years. I was involved in a project that brought the first two civilian hummers to Canada, painting me as yuppie is laughable. Thanks !

Interesting that a fleet mechanic is looking for advise on "what to look for" from an online forum. I wouldnt be so confident of the advise on this forum! But hope you get it figured out.

Yes... many of your opinions are correct.

The Raptor’s reputation and tuff looks, and exclusivity have attracted many would be AMG, BMW M, Porsche, Audi RS, Trackhawk, and even GT350/500 shoppers.
People who have an attraction to high end vehicles and the means to acquire them.

The issue appears to be that the Raptor falls short of their expectations in a few areas. Satisfying this segment of buyers is something Ford should consider with the next gen Raptor.

Engine - should be a turbo or SC V8. A vehicle that heavy needs tons of torque to satisfy seat of the pants feel... should be at least 650ft lbs. (not to mention sound is important to performance buyers).

Interior - when RAM has your interior beat by a significant margin, you know you are not goin to come close to satisfying the German cross shoppers. Yea it has some of the same tech, but it is very crudely implemented and bare bones to check the box... kinda like a Tracfone vs an iPhone, yea they both can make calls and send texts, but there is a significant difference in the experience.

Then is really gets to smaller items... paint, panel alignment, rust, rattles, stereo quality, tiny infotainment, camera resolution, etc.

Look, another ignorant owner that buys a truck designed specifically for uncompromised offroad performance and then complains about its road manners because it doesn't measure up to their M, AMG, or Porsche.

Ford really needs to implement a screening process to keep the Raptor out of BMW owner's hands.

If a person is cross-shopping the Raptor against German luxury cars, please, please, please do everyone a favor and cross the Raptor off your list.

As you have already learned, the Raptor is most definitely not for you and no one will miss you when you are gone.

I have owned 3 M-cars and currently own an M2. My M2 is quick. I know it is faster than my Raptor but by no means my Raptor is slow. For its size, the Raptor is quick ... alot quicker than most trucks on the road. It is deceivingly fast to me and others who try to race me. Other cars learn quickly that the Raptor is no slouch.

M2 one of the last BMW's made that is actually a BMW (seriously) & I would consider owning, good choice!

I do think alot of people also need to consider running the truck in sport mode, 4A, w/ TC off - THEN tell us you still think its "slow".

Alot of the time in 2WD the truck is either spinning the wheels in motion in lower gears losing traction/acceleration (and its suspension is so cushy/cabin so composed you don't notice it) and/or the TC is cutting power on initial launches/lower gears where you're not maximizing the truck's potential.

I put a couple hundred kms on this morning, no better. From reading some of the comments sounds like something is wrong. Complete dog power wise. I have not had a chance to dig into the manual so quick question, how do you lock it into sport mode? Every time I restart it’s back to the base setting. Thanks !!
