Crawling around the truck today I noticed the drivers side shock resting length was 1.5” shorter then passenger side. (I measured eye to eye) also checked the distance from the lead spring mount back (they were equal)

Passenger goes from to front of axel to center line with the axel.

The drivers side is mounted behind the axel and facing forwards, mounted still behind the centerline of the axel.

Anyone else notice this?

its the cheapest way for a manufacturer to minimize wheel hop/spring wrap on a leaf sprung truck.

It isnt ideal.

progressive leaf springs and bypass shocks alleviate more, but also cost much more to manufacture and include on the trucks.

Yeah I understand the shock placement that to minimize axel wrap. What I was concerned about was the difference in length between the shock eyes.

Why is one side shorter by 1.5”. The axel is centered correctly.
