The Raptor was my dream truck all through college, and I finally bought it just one a month after graduation. Hell no I won't be trading it in, too much sentimental value if anything. That and we used to sh$t on kids with V6's while in school, I don't think this is any different regardless of hp. If you use the truck for what it's designed, why would you need the extra horses??

I'm holding out the 3rd Gen Raptor, da Hybrid Edition. I'll be in my 60's by then and I'll need one to haul my Jazzy Scooter around, and plus I'll have spare batteries when the scooter's batteries die.

You wont need it by then. you will be living in someones basement by then. maybe he will be president by then.:GetMoney:

He'll still be too young to run for President when I hit my 60's, but he better have plans to install one of those rail chairs so I don't go up & down them friggin steps to/from the basement...

It looks OLD and it's gonna look even older when the Next Gen Raptors are on the road.

Nothing wrong with that. But the originals will look dated.

Obviously, you are as a passionate about the Gen 2 as I am about the Gen 1, so we won't be seeing eye-to-eye on this subject. I'm sure the Gen 2 will look 'cool' with all the aftermarket bumpers and lights bolted/welded on, but I will NEVER cave and say that the 1st Gen of any vehicle isn't desirable because it's not new.

I think Ford was ahead of the time when it initially built this truck, and the looks and performance of the final '14 year looks awesome. Bolt/weld on the extras, and it's a perfect platform for what I do. The initial cost of the Gen 2 will be higher, but who really cares. You can either afford it or not. But I think that all the Gen 2 guys have to respect the Gen 1 for starting the whole thing anyway.

The V6 TT is, in my opinion, a step backwards for Ford. These trucks will always need a V8 for us guys that don't intend on having to spend $10k to make power. Turbos are great on the highway and high speed stuff, but at lower speeds and long, high torque situations without a lot of airflow, I think there are going to be issues. That being said, the street guys are gonna love it. It just depends on how you use the truck.

So, to put a fork in it for me, I'm disagreeing with you and won't be interested in buying one of these trucks with a V6 TT, EVER. Not saying that it's not a good power plant, just saying that I'm not interested in it with this particular platform. I also feel, just like the H3 owners, Gen 2 guys will see the Gen 1 and say, "gosh, those are really badass looking trucks. Wish I would have bought one (or kept mine) when I had the chance".

I wish Ford would come back out with a Lightning. Not a V6 TT but with the 6.2 and SC. I really miss the Lightning. I love the Raptor don't get me wrong and plan on keeping this one. Just would like to see another Lightning platform

I am not an automotive/diesel mechanic, but the whole V6 TT vs V8 NA seems to be overboard. If you like the sound and sound alone okay. Maybe you can mount both indoor and outdoor speakers to keep your sound. :ROFLJest:

If we go back 20 yrs and had forums it'd be nice to see what the diesel guys were saying. Turbo's aren't needed...it's the wave of the future....can't handle the dirt....

Just yesterday my 5 yr old son got to ride in probably a 1/2 million dollar tractor setup. New MF with large baler and some kind of deluxe boiler/steamer setup that steams (and possibly dries?) the alfalfa to help keep the leaves on the stalks and make the best bales. Yep that tractor engine is TT. Pretty sure most farm and logging equipment now day's is TT...how does that manage all the dirt those see?

I also wonder how many naysayer's here have even driven the 3.5L Eco? I own a 14' Raptor and a 12' Lariat w/3.5.
- Stock performance the 3.5 is much quicker to respond, even with the turbo lag. Now add a tune and it's incredible, turbo lag almost gone. 3.5L is 4x4 Screw long box loaded. With a tune the 3.5L just wants to go and go quick.

- Towing the 3.5 is much better, yes even light loads and I know the Raptor wasn't built to tow. Just towing my JD riding lawn mower in an enclosed trailer, maybe 1500 lbs total, Eco wins hands down compared to the Raptor, yep drove both trucks with the same trailer and lawn mower setup.

I don't know how much Ford will push the Raptor's tune, but the amount of gain with a simple electronic tune on TT's will be hard to beat vs. headers/exhaust/supercharger/etc...

Yeah. I thought this was a thread for us guys that aren't going this direction. If I wanted to feel good about the new truck, I would have posted in that thread. Oh wait, there isn't a 'Gee, I feel good about the new Gen 2" thread.....
