I might. funds are a little depleated right now, so I may have to put the stock air intake back on and sell the air-raid I have on now to get some cash. I already have the k&n drop in filter too, so thatll help

Wow! Yeah - it helps! That's a realy cheap solution. When you put it all together, it's about $50 in pipes, joints and clamps.

Yea thats about what I figured too. Get the SS pipe if you want to leave it raw for bout 20 bucks more, or get the aluminum and powdercoat, paint or plasti-dip it to protect from rusting. If I do it Ill probly do the aluminum plasti-dipped, cuz I found red plasti-dip at fleet farm

I think I might try this. I need to do a little more research and need a free day to dig into it a bit. I thought I read awhile ago that some turbulence is good for an intake...? I'll have to find that thread and read through it again. I also think I'm going to customize a box for the filter.
What do you think about the "rubber" hose idea rather than the pipe?

You mean like getting the "rubber silicone hose with a 45 degree bend, cutting it to length (if you need to) and just clamping it? If thats what yer talkin about, then I guess I could see that working cuz it says those hoses are for turbos or super chargers and those pull a hell of lot more air than a stock throttle body does. Price would be that much cheaper too!!!

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I would think it would lower resistence in the intake.

bringing this subject back up

What I'm wondering is why would the intake silencers on the stock tubes cause a less mileage situation? If mileage can be increased by putting in a straight pipe without all the chambers for silencing, why wouldn't ford build it that way. could it be an emissions issue?
I"m not sure what you guys did or if you ever finished the project but I'd be interested in doing the same thing. Thanks for the links to the parts.
First thing I did was put a K&N drop in filter in. Like to hear the feed back if the rest of you that may have done this saw a mileage increase or not.

Well I have the 6.2 not the 5.4, which I just realized this thread for, . But I did just order the couplers, the piping, and clamps. Already have the K&N drop-in in the air box. Should be here midweek. I will update with pics and exactly what I bought to do it, IF I can make it work

I am going to try this. does anyone have a part number for the donaldson drop in filter?
so its 3 inch hose with clamps
is it a 45 degree bend?
