So with my 2018 Raptor I didn’t go with the moon roof because I’ve seen and heard the rattle and in some instances the moonroof getting off track. My 2023 I decided to not go with the moon roof again even though I wanted the tailgate. Do you think leaving out this singular option will hurt resale? Previous trucks seem like it didn’t matter as long as you had 802A… but since the moon roof/tailgate option is literally the only option I’m wondering if I should add it on.

Also I went with white and I am second guessing if I should switch to a more exclusive color like avalanche gray or antimatter blue in terms of resale! Your thoughts are much appreciated!

Not sure if my thinking is out if pure paranoia or not, but I’m thinking more money/options = greater chance it gets built. It is possible though that the opposite is true, since it may be easier to spit out trucks with less options. ‍♂️

Change up the color for sure. If you are keeping the truck longer than a year or two, then I would order without since that is your preference. And enjoy with no regrets.

I think the moonroof will hurt resale. 90% of them will have one and 50% of buyers hate them. Supply and demand. I personally would pay more for an R without a moonroof. In general, more options means more resale dollars, but at a lower percentage of retail. So your typical $2000 option might get you $500 more at resale. Something that comes with a basket of trouble? Unless you really want it, it's a dumb move.

+1 @GordoJay.
While it’s popular, because Ford crams it in wherever it can, even forcing it on buyers who want the tailgate step, it’s an option that has a fairly well deserved reputation as being problematic. A quick perusal of any internet search engine for f150 broken moonroof yields an avalanche of results that dwarfs the plastic oil pan and cam phaser numbers combined.

Now you can make the argument that it’s more than durable enough in the closed position and if properly maintained, shouldn’t be an issue but it’s like an engine option for which there are a lot of problems on a car- years later that option either commands less money than a comparably equipped vehicle or has a very small increase in value.

If you’re ordering, order without the moonroof.

Honestly, I don't think any options you pick on an R is going to have much impact on the resale value or how easy it is to sell. No one's going to say "I must have an R with/without a panoroof!"

From my understanding you can't really option a R other than color?

Got my Code Orange ordered today. Graphics delete was only option I chose. I think options are color , graphics and moonroof.
