Have you had the most recent recall performed? There was an additional recall issued after the initial one with a more robust repair procedure. My truck is a ‘19, which has the same parts from the latest recall, and I’ve had no issues with frozen matches.

Do you by chance know if Ford applied the TSB fix with the water guard gutter system on the 2020's?

I have a 2020 and my passenger side lock froze when it got cold and I couldn't open the door. I finally was able to but then it would just bounce off the latch trying to close it. When I finally got it to close and lock I took it to the dealership. They said there was no recall on the 2020 for the frozen lock, said the issue was fixed. It ended up being a failed actuator and they replaced it the same day. Truck only has 4k miles on it.

Yes, last winter. I think the truck has been in no less than six times for the same issue. All recalls and service bulletins have been performed.

Do you have the number of the latest FSA or TSB that was performed? If you have the latest one and it’s still freezing, the dealer did the repair improperly.

Yes, all 2020’s have the updated design and components. A failed door lock actuator is unrelated to the door latch freezing issue.

My truck was in twice last year. It has been better but the driver’s door still does it. I’m taking it in for an oil change in march and will ask them about it. Luckily for me Tge passenger side opens fine, so I can force the door with the inside handle. Then to close it, I have to hit the lock button but that seems to at least get my kids to school. It’s pretty annoying.

I don’t think this is related... but let me recount the tale anyway, maybe it helps.

Once in a while from about 2018-2019, my wife would get out of the truck, close the passenger door and it wouldn’t latch. I would close it and it would just work. This went on for months, inconsistently. One day I was washing the truck, working on the roof from the passenger side, closed the door and it bounced back on me.

Double ewe. Tee. Eff.

Shortly after, I had the latest lock fix applied to my truck. I did not have the frozen latch condition, but I thought what the heck, maybe this would help. When I got the truck back, I checked all 4 doors and passenger front bounced open when I closed it. I got the S/A, he tried, could not replicate. I closed it from the inside, he opened from the outside, closed the door and it bounced. This never happens to me... They took it back in side and diagnosed a stretched actuator cable for the outside door handle; apparently there are 2, one for the inside handle, one for the outside. Anyway, they replaced that cable and problem resolved.

Any chance that maybe you have a defective cable or actuator going on here?

This could be my problem. I think it’s the lock cable freezing. When I try from the outside, you can se the lock wiggles but doesn’t pop up. When you force it from the inside, it pushes the lock up but the door won’t latch until you re-lock the door with the button.

I had the issue many times in winter of 2019. After two tries with the dealership it was resolved. No issue afterwards and none this season as well. We've had well below freezing temps, snow and ice with no issue.

December 2019 - My paper work says "customer requests 19NO2 be performed." Then it says "19NO2C performed additional robustness actions." and a list of parts.

I just expected better from a vehicle with this price tag.

It sounds like the dealer performed the FSA incorrectly or incompletely, as the updates in 18N03 and 19N02 should have resolved the issue completely. The updates essentially waterproof and seal the doors, add grease to all connections, and waterproof the cables. If a door is still freezing, something wasn’t done right. Have you reached out to Ford Customer Service? They have the ability to send out an engineer to the dealer to inspect the work and find out what’s going on.
