Washboard Dirt Roads = Major Problems

I took the time to read all posts. Some helpful stuff! My summary of the thread's "suggestions"
1-air down. Large range of suggestions, trend is to be below 38 with rear 2lbs lower than front
2-change driving mode . I am unclear on pros & cons, for example is it safe to tool around in 4H/Baja on maintained gravel road etc
3-investigate VDM update. Does dealer have to do this and is it worth the hassle?
4-disable traction control. Any had a NEGATIVE experience doing this?
5-attend Raptor Assault

Others dismissed from consideration
-keep it under 10MPH
-keep it parked
-move over and let your mother drive!

I have the twin ARB, less than $ 600 on Amazon and it is quick. I air down a lot. Even the "Trail Rated" Jeep Rubicon does not come with a compressor. I am sure the Ford lawyers would frown on them including a compressor as some idiot would forget to air up and have a problem and sue them.

And you don't HAVE to air down, it just will be a lot more comfortable and handle better if you do. Also your tires will be more resistant to puncture from a sharp rock. Once I came up on a F-350 truck with tires at 75 PSI and he almost shook his teeth out on a really rocky trail. His girlfriend was not amused. Pretty funny.
THANKS for the info....would you happen to have the link to the set up you bought...I'm seeing a half dozen Twin ARB set ups?

I have a $40 vair compressor under my seat. Works great, maybe a little slow but not really.

I usually run street pressures (33ish) and it is definitely serviceable off road. The more you go down the more you benefit, until you go low enough to debead[/QUOT
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think the only 12V Twin ARB compressor is the ARB CKMTA12

Pretty sure that is the one JZ was talking about...but if you search Amazon for ARB Twin you will get 7-8 ARB Twin systems.To me they all look about the same,and not going to go crazy trying to compare specs.....I'm thinking the VAIR portable system is the way for me to go since I dont off-road much..at least I can use the VAIR in other vehicles.

What an interesting thread. It's like asking people what is the best method to brew coffee. For each person, you will have a unique opinion. Realistically, its true tire pressure matters a lot. As someone said in one of the earlier posts, you shouldn't need to air down to go fishing. If you tire pressure set from a factory or dealership way to high(like 45-50psi) it will be an issue. I run 36/36 cold and do not have an issue on/offroad unless in sand dunes. Setting it lower than 33, I think trips low-pressure warning anyway and messes with driving modes. I had mine 2017 doing 60-70mph on California Sierras rocky fire roads and packed dirt without any issues. So it slides a bit and doesn't feel dangerous. Isn't that part of the fun? I had a truck doing 90+ on a dry bed lake in Nevada with the same tire pressure. At that speed, it was starting to drift a bit.

That reminds me - you can adjust the warning pressure in FORSCAN, right? Getting new tires Friday and I think I'd like the warning to hit around 29.

I wrote this guide that should answer 2 and 5. I find myself holding the traction button down in Baja mode nowadays, but most people will be happy with (and should stick to) just the button press. In short, switch to an offroad mode, and if you get interference, reduce TC/RSC as necessary. It will never fully disable, and you can expect the truck to kill power if you power slide around a sharp turn.

The link that I sent is for the twin compressor only. There are other links that are for the compressor and some E-Z Deflators, one that includes the E-Z deflators and an ARB locker manifold kit, and one that has a tire inflation kit with a digital tire inflator, but the other links all seem to be for other ARB compressors that are NOT the twin compressor, such as this one.

Use the KISS principle and make it easy. Unless you are are racing, slow down a bit and turn TC off. I haven't noticed the problem on my '18 even with TC off, but I don't go balls out on washboard roads, and maybe the heavier weight of the 37s helps.
