Woohoo!! Happy it finally came in. The blue looks good - I like the gradient contrast between the shadowed and sunlit portions of the truck - and imo the beadlock wheels go better with blue than white.

Check to make sure the door panels are aligned! At the end of the day you are probably the lucky one as the extra wait rewarded you with a truck that has less issues off the line or at least was properly fixed at ramp 59. Let us know if there are any panel alignment issues or other imperfections.

Even though many say break in is not really an issue I have been trying to go by the book and vary speed as much as possible and slowly increase rev variance but my commute to work is nearly all freeway. It was tough to do when not in manual and shifting up through so many gears in traffic while getting used to the width of the truck and figuring out all the tech (while also on the phone working) was almost stressful - almost. I'm probably overthinking it but don't want to give my truck any reason to surprise me with more issues. At 300 miles I realized you can keep it in auto and each time you hit the left paddle shifter it will lock out gears starting from the top. Helps to keep it out of its safe space in gear 10.

Well that certainly worked out in your favor. Glad to hear your truck is getting built this week. Hopefully you'll have it in under a month.

I also got the Adam's ceramic coating kit. I'm waiting for the weather to consistently warm up a bit before I apply it, but I practiced on my old F150 before I turned it in this week. After paint correction and coating, the hood looked brand new. And they're not kidding about how much depth it adds to the paint. I'm thinking my PB truck will look awesome.

Have you done ceramic coating before?

Sort of. I put some nice Forgestar wheels on my Mustang when I had it. I used an Adam’s ceramic wheel kit on those. I have not used a paint kit, though. I’ve done paint correction and Adam’s sealants on the Mustang and my current black RS with great results. I think that’s the hard part, no? The actual ceramic coating looks pretty simple as long as you follow directions well.

I will say, I have not physically seen a PB Raptor. I wanted to like the color, but a couple of the photos I saw I just didn’t like it. Some lighting made it look too powdery to me. I drove a half hour to see a VB Raptor and I definitely liked that color in person, that’s why I ordered it. You guys on here post pictures that make me not 100% sure I made the right choice. I just want you all to know, you’re making my waiting more difficult!

Good afternoon guys,

I’ve been lurking since they announced the Gen2. Tried hard to get a ‘17 but couldn’t get into one at a reasonable price. Ended up picking up a Focus RS thinking a hatchback would be better for home projects than my Mustang GT was.

Long story short, I got hit with the head gasket issue and the car needed a new head, not happy to have a dealer doing that work. Took my car for state inspection in January and was notified that the head gasket was again leaking. Damn it.

To my surprise, Ford offered to buy it back towards another Ford vehicle. Even more to my surprise, they agreed to let me special order a Raptor even though my dealer had no allocations left. I ordered an 802 ‘19 SCREW, Velocity Blue, Loaded with Recaros and beadlocks. Pretty much every option except stickers and a bed liner. Couldn’t bring myself to pay that much for stickers and there is a Line-X dealer literally 3 miles from my house. My Ford case rep tells me my truck is being built this week. I’m getting pretty excited now.

I’ve been watching these order threads, figured I’d say hello! No real mods planned yet. Ordered some Adam’s ceramic coating and other goodies. Planning to have the dealer leave the truck as delivered and clean it myself. I like exterior detailing, so I’ll do the paint correction and coating myself. It’ll be a daily driver for me. I want to learn to do some light off-roading, I just need to find a place where I don’t risk scratching the hell out of a 70000 truck. Anyone know any good spots in PA?

That's a damn fine resolution to having such a serious issue with a relatively new vehicle! Your turn around on the truck is quick and on top of that you will probably be more likely to get a pristine truck now that they have worked out the kinks.

Congrats!

Haha, this place has that effect of making the waiting game even harder than it already is.

I have never done any paint correction (cutting/polishing) before, but have done plenty of detailing otherwise in my day. The correction process seemed pretty daunting to me, especially on such an expensive vehicle. Thankfully I was able to practice on my leased F150 before turning it in. And I will definitely say the correction process was the most difficult. The coating application itself was very straight forward.

A few things I noticed/did that weren't really covered in any videos I watched ahead of time:

- My old truck was black, which made the rainbowing hard to spot. When I couldn't see it, I just waited a minute or two and wiped.
- There were a few times where I felt I didn't apply enough coating on the applicator based on how it thin it spread. I eventually just got more comfortable applying a liberal amount. It seemed to wipe off all the same.
- I was very worried about high spots, since once they dry they're impossible to remove without abrasives. I made VERY sure to wipe off every bit of coating after a minute, and covered much more than the area I applied. I didn't notice any high spots.

Overall, much easier than I thought, so with your experience you'll be fine.

And I hear you on the color choice. I ordered my PB truck based on nothing other than a color swatch in a brochure. When I first started seeing photos, several looked powder blue and I thought I had made a mistake. But after seeing it in person, it's much darker in most lights, with more gray to it than velocity blue. I do get powder blue from it every now and then, but that's the entire point of that color.... It shifts depending on the light/angle.

But whatever paint you pick, it's a Raptor... So impossible to go wrong.

Agreed. It was nerve racking initially because Ford outsources there re-acquired vehicle (RAV) service. The case manager I had was not good. He never answered emails, phone messages and promised call backs that he never made. He “moved on” and the new gal is much much better, usually answering emails within a business hour. Overall the deal is very much in my favor. I paid invoice for the RS; they are giving me sticker, plus tax, plus loan interest, plus the cost of the 2 years state registration. The catch is that I need to pay sticker for the replacement Raptor. But the offset on the RS means I am somewhere around $4000 under sticker on a Raptor; which is virtually unheard of around here. In fact my dealer is selling year old used Raptors with 10k miles for almost sticker; and they still don’t stay on the lot long. The best offer I’ve had on a new truck, order or stock, is $500 under sticker. I give Ford an A- for a great offer to fix the issue, only low A because of the early bad service.

I had the same issue on the wheels. I could only see the the rainbow when I shined a bright flashlight on it. So, I applied it with a moderately wet block, waited a minute or 2, then wiped the crap out it. After I finished the whole wheel I went over it with the flashlight and buffed off any spots I could find.

It is amazing how well it worked. Brake dust and road dirt pretty much blasted off with the power washer. I would recommend it and will probably do the Raptor wheels. I will say it was really time consuming. The wheels I had were brand new Forgestar F14s, a 14 split spoke wheel. I didn’t need to correct the finish at all and they still took me 6ish hours to do them all. It was a pain in the ass to get in all of the crevices and holes. I was very much done with it by the end.

"I'm not crying about anything" And then literally start sobbing about it in your next sentence. lol, what a hypocrite... But hey, at least your idiocy is entertaining.

And I can understand why words like, "obtuse" confuse you. When phrases such as, "Would you like fries with that?" are in your daily repertoire (Oh shoot, there I go with fancy words again), I can see why anything over a single syllable would throw you into a low IQ frenzy.

Again, nothing to defend my original claim that Ford's system sucks. No comparison against Tesla or anyone else. And you need to realize that just because I don't use words like "obtuse" and "frenzy" doesn't mean that I don't know the meaning. The fact that you decide to use such words already proves your insecurities trying to belittle

Btw, I don't serve fries...but gain, there you go with the insults. In my business if we served people the way Ford does we would be out of business within a few months. But you probably wouldn't understand much about customer service and what it takes to compete in a market like NYC. Instead you sit there, hiding behind your laptop trolling anyone you disagree with. I think you're the one that continues to act like an entitled teenager.

For example: If I was a loyal Ford brand customer, and I saw someone post something along the lines like I did about the entire ordering and receiving process, I wouldn't be the jerk that you are. I'd probably say, "yeah you're right, the entire ordering system does suck, but its an awesome truck and you should really wait for it!" Not every excuse in the book and then when you cant think of any more excuses you start using words no normal person would ever use as an insult.

And another fact, your word "obtuse" is usually used in the mathematical world, not as an insult...which I can prove that in my early years I've won numerous mathematics awards nationally. So yeah, I'll go serve some fries with that!! Such a jerk!!!

When you've helped build a family company that started out in NYC reach an international level of 180 locations and learned quite a bit about customer service, then maybe I'll take what you have to say into consideration. As for now, go troll someone else that's in your awkward vocabulary league.

lol, you're so worked up over a situation you created. You should learn to better control your emotions. I bet your dog will appreciate it.

I just installed the Husky mud flaps myself. Couldn't have been much easier, and I like that they're pretty minimal in appearance. Would like to know your thoughts on the WTs.

Are you doing full PPF or just partial?
