Several of the aftermarket CAIs retain the factory airbox and snorkel. Evidently the Roush does, and I can testify that the AIRAID does also. Given that, and that usually the rear and inboard lips of aftermarket extension on the factory airbox seal against the inner surface of the hood, most of the intake air is indeed cool.

With what I read here, the factory inlet provides plenty of air.

I am NOT a believer.

Some dilligent checking on the Ford Parts web site reveals that with the exception of one or two compnents on the EcoBoost engines, all Ford F150s breathe through the same intake components regardless of displacement. The snorkel, airbox, airbox lid, air filter, intake hose, and intake resonator are all the same part numbers from the V6 engines to the 6.2L. That's right, your high performance, heavy breathing 411 bhp 6.2L breathes through the same intake components as the 302 bhp 3.7L V6.

This parts commonality is great for Ford and may be fine if you own a 3.7L V6, but I have to be skeptical that the intake components for an average sized V6 are optimum for a large, high performance V8.

Didn't know that, makes sense for Ford to do it though.

What's the solution?

I also have installed both the Roush CAI and the Roush performance exhaust and the truck is a blast to drive. The exhaust sound tone is awesome!

Also, I noticed a gain on mpg's. I am getting now 13.8 mpg city and 17.5 mpg on hwy. I highly recommend these mods!!!!

Attached are some pics of my rig.

I'm not getting nearly as good of MPG as that. I ran 200 miles the other day at about 78 MPH and I was averaging 13.2 I haven't been able to get a good city MPG because I keep mashing on it haha

I get 15.1 to 16 in town and 16.5 to 17 on the highway. It's not my intake, though, it's my driving habits.

The strange thing is....on the Roush web site the exhaust is the same for the 3.6, 5.0 and 6.2???? I would think there would be a difference between all these engines.
On a side note, I would think that Roush would have some Dyno info up on their system... Is this just a noise maker or does it help performance a little?
