Found the solution but it involves extra wiring, splicing, shoving the stock HVAC board back in the dash, and buying the correct relay.

Its your aftermarket remote start that causes the issues.

I don't have any issues with my aftermarket remote start.

I bought the truck used with a Firstech remote start installed by the previous owner, I don't think my truck came with remote start from the factory or else I'm not sure why they would have gone to the trouble. I was just sharing that it is possible to set one up in such a way that it activates the heat or a/c.

It is in the center screen. However the check boxes don't save. looks like there is a fb thread on shoving the orig AC board back in the dash, running a relay and wire to the ACC fuse. custom workaround and technical to do.
